Patio-Bake Sale a Great Success!!
The amazing men and women of St. Hugh
began collecting and hauling items, large and
small, and boxes full of goodies, to the church
well ahead of time
to participate in
the miracle that is
the
Patio-Bake
Sale.
Members
set up for the
sale—tents
and
tables
for
cashiers,
tools,
plants, books and
bakery
outside
and spaces or
tables for furniture,
linens, jewelry, the raffle, note cards, Mission
Creek, children’s, household, Bishop’s Blend
Coffee, collectables, and electronics inside.
We sorted and priced all the items, cleaned
parts of the church, tidied up the outdoor
areas, and displayed sale items creatively to
best show them off. On the lovely Saturday
morning of the Sale, many of us arrived early
with St. Hugh’s famously delicious fresh
baked goods and Garby was stationed in the
kitchen to sell her delectable homemade ice
cream (which sold out before the end of the
sale). There were lots of St. Hugh tee shirts
visible, and we had a great day of greeting
customers, seeing our friends who support
our sale, and relaxing during a wonderful
lunch provided by Sylvia.
Later, many
needed and willing hands were on deck to
help close up the sale, box and load the
unsold items on Dr. LePere’s Kiwanis trailer,

and set the church back in order for Sunday.
As of Monday our net profits are $3,365.69!!
Nice job everybody! And this will increase a
bit this week, before
we take out some
minor expenses for
advertising. Carol’s
Mission
Creek
display
generated
$93 in separate funds
that
will
directly
benefit work with
incarcerated women.
We did very well,
thanks
to
the
generous donations
you provided, your
efforts to publicize our sale, and your
dedicated efforts in pulling off a smooth
event. We will have a healthy amount of
funds to add to proceeds from the Holiday
Bazaar in November, which will then all go to
those most in need in our community.
Thank you to each and every one of you
for making the Patio-Bake Sale a great
success!!

The ECW Summer Tea is Coming Soon
The ECW will hold its Summer Tea this year on Monday
August 11th at Pat Yingling’s home in Lakeland Village.
All women in the church are invited. By popular demand,
Jacque Crisman, Principal of Evergreen school, will again
be our guest speaker. We had a lovely, relaxing and fun
time last year and I look forward to this year’s tea. Stay
tuned for specific details about time (similar to the time of
our regular ECW meetings) and carpooling. It’s an event
not to be missed!

Mission Creek News
July 6th was my second Prayer Beads
Class ; it was so much fun!
Chappy
(Chaplain Skinner) said only 10 ladies
would be in my class, but after a few
minutes - I had 15 ladies - and they loved
the class.. So, I will have the Prayer Beads
Class every 1st Sunday of the month.
I
also make Rosaries. Every week Pam and I
have new ladies,
Sunday July 6th, in
addition to my 15 ladies, Pam had 10; so we
were very busy, Friday July 11 we had 20
ladies, Mission Creek now has 150 ladies,
also 3 of them ask if my church will pray for
them, I said YES we will. Some times I have
to have a big Heart and understanding
Heart, I do have 3 or 4 ladies that need to sit
and talk, and I sit and listen.
A BIG THANK YOU TO JOANNA AND
BETTY L. from Chappy for the yarn. He
said "Yes, St. Hugh is back". We still can
use more beads, just plain, plastic ones. and
YARN.
"Blessings", Carol

United Thank Offering
Remember those little blue boxes we
distributed last year? It’s time again to
think about preparing for our Ingathering
of “Thank Offerings” later this year in
November and prayerfully remember all
those things you can be thankful for.
Start filling them up now. Please pick up
your boxes and envelopes on the
entryway counter by the front doors as
you are leaving the church.
