Left pneumothorax
Soft tissue, non-enhancing mass, caudo-dorsal thorax, just to left of midline. The mass
contains some air, and is closely associated with the esophagus and aorta The 11th rib head looks expansile and lytic, and there is irregular mineralization adjacent to the
vertebral body, extending into mass
Differentials:
•
•
•
Pleural effusion and atelectasis
Spirocerca lupi with esophageal granuloma/osteosarcoma and involvement of rib and vertebral
body
Esophageal perforation with granuloma formation/abscess
Could do endoscopic exam and biopsy. Could also do fecal float and check for larva
Histological Diagnosis: Pleural/
subpleural hemangiosarcoma
