MEMBER NEWSLETTER
July 2015
Dear Sage Springs Club Members,
With the change of seasons I am proud to announce
Andrew Dutcher to our accounting team. Andrew had
been with Sunriver Resort for over 5 years and is an
amazing member of our team. He has taken Brandy
Smith’s role over, managing Sage Springs billing and
accounting. We all enjoyed Brandy’s passion and
commitment to our team and the resort. We wish
her a prosperous future with her new career in Bend.
Andrew is available from 9am to 5 pm Monday thru
Friday at 541-593-4835 for billing questions. I am
happy to assist with any and all membership or billing
inquires and I am always available at 541-593-7890.

Tennis Tip
“Sports is sports” as one of my mentors told me many years ago. There are so many parallels in sports that
once you have mastered one sport it is very easy to apply those areas to other athletic endeavors.
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of having an ex NBA player and his wife take a couple of classes with me. Swen
Nater played for 12 years in the NBA, having played with Bill Walton at UCLA under Coach John Wooden.
Swen shared one of his favorite “Woodenisms” with me when we were trying to get him to swing smoothly
through the ball without tensing up. Players who try to hit too hard don’t relax enough.
“Every joint flexed and relaxed” Coach Wooden would say frequently as Swen showed me one of the shadow shooting drills
that mimic the shadow tennis drills that I encourage players to do in practicing their serve, groundstroke, and volley technique.
As a side note, Swen still moves great for a 65 year old 6 foot 11 inch athlete. I encourage all players and especially
juniors to play other sports not only for enjoyment but to cross train and develop the whole athletic body.
