COMESA stands for the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.
COMESA offers its members and partners a wide range of benefits which include:

The Vision of COMESA
The vision of COMESA is to be a fully integrated economic community that is
prosperous, internationally competitive, and ready to merge into the African Economic
Community.
COMESA Member States
Burundi, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia,
Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Swaziland,
Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Trade liberalization: establishment of a Free Trade Area that includes removal of
Non-Tariff Barriers (NTB’s) including foreign exchange restrictions, removal of taxes
on foreign exchange, import and export quotas, road blocks, easing of Customs
formalities, extending times border posts are open, creation of “one stop border
posts”, among others
• Trade facilitation: development of trade facilitation instruments
