The annual winter concert warmed hearts and excited
everyone this holiday season. The program contained
wonderful selections of music that were performed by the
concert band, orchestra, choralations, boys ensemble, and
girls ensemble. The school day audience consisted of Kodiak
Registry members, National Junior Honors Society members
and elite members of Beverly Hills. In the evening, parents
attended this time honored tradition, and experienced the
entire program of seasonal selecions.
The band performed modern songs such as “Shut Up and
Dance” and “Everything is Awesome.” Choraations performed
songs such as “Zumba, Zumba” and “Chapua Kali Desemba”
which featured soloists Wedy Dorsainvil, Bene Green, and
Richard Hymms. Orchestra performed “Deck the Halls,” “Ding
Dong Merrily on High,” among others.
Beverly Hills is proud of the music students for all of their
hard work, dedication and performances.

Beverly Hills Birds Get Early Holiday Gifts
Sixth grade students in Mrs. Tierney's
Animal Science classes have completed a unit on
birds by designing and building bird feeders and
bird houses for our Beverly Hills Courtyard.
Students planned out their designs with their
ingenuity. They built a variety of bird feeders
and houses to suit even the pickiest of our
Upper Darby feathered friends!
When you get a chance , take a peek into
the courtyard this winter, and look for some
non-migrator birds, whom have decided that if
the "Hawks" and "Owls" can come to school
each day, so can they!!

Beverly Hills Middle School hosted it’s
annual Hoops for Heart fundraiser.
This fundraiser is a long standing
tradition at Beverly Hills. We have
been raising money for the American
Heart Association for over 20 years.
This fundraiser is held during the
holiday season and promotes giving
among our students, as well as heart
health. This year Beverly Hills Physical
Education teachers are proud to
announce $476.00 was raised.

BHMS New Staff Members
My name is Vanessa Unger-Haydinger and I am the new ELL teacher
at Beverly Hills Middle School. This is my 11th year of teaching, but
my first here in the Upper Darby School District. I taught elementary
students and even at the college level. My undergraduate degree is in
business administration from La Salle University. I have my Masters in
Education from Alvernia University and my ESL certification from
Pennsylvania State University. I am married and have two dogs. I
love to travel and go on vacations with my family. I am excited to call
BH my new home.
Hi! My name is Christy Hartman and I am joining the Penn Quakers as a 6th
grade math teacher. My 6+ years of teaching experience with the Philadelphia
School District has afforded me endless experience (and stories!) that I am
confident will be helpful in servicing the BHMS community. It is truly a blessing
to join the Beverly Hills Team and I look forward to getting to know the staff,
teachers, and students. Teamwork makes the dream work!
My name is Amanda Ciminera. I am a special education teacher at BHMS. I
have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Development from the
University at Buffalo and a Masters in Elementary and Special Education from
Saint Josephís University. I taught for the last seven years for the School District
of Philadelphia. I currently reside in Abington with my husband and eight-month
old daughter.
Hi my name is Ryan Hanna. I am now a Social Studies teacher at Beverly
Hills Middle School. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years at Beverly Hills
Middle School. I graduated from Bloomsburg University. I enjoy playing and
coaching basketball.

BHMS New Staff Members
Hi there! My name is Danielle Baclawski and I am the new 8th grade Language Arts teacher for the St. Joe's Hawks
team! For the last 6 years I taught Visual Media at Nazareth High School in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. While at
Nazareth I coached high school and middle school field hockey and directed the after school theater program. I
originally graduated from Millersville University in 2008 with a Bachelor's in Speech Communication/Broadcasting,
then went right back to school to get my degree in Secondary Education English from King's College, finishing in
2010. This past May, I received my Master's in Alternative Education from Lock Haven University. I plan on taking a
short break from continuing education as I settle in here at BH and then return to begin pursuing my administration
certificate. I am THRILLED to begin this new chapter here and cannot wait to get to know the students, faculty, and
staff! My name is Kevin Stephan and I am the 7th grade Science teacher at BHMS. After 7 years of
teaching 5th grade in Darby, I decided to take on a new challenge of working with middleschoolers, and I have loved every minute. As a kid, Middle School was a tough time for me
because I was picked on and bullied, so getting to be a positive influence on students at this age
is extremely rewarding. I live in Springfield and am married to my beautiful wife, Laura, who is a
Speech-Language Pathologist at Overbrook School for the Blind. We have two awesome
children, Grant (4 yr old in January), and Wyatt (2 1/2 yr old) , who make my life crazier and
more wonderful every day. I love travelling (Switzerland is my favorite place), photography,
sports, and most importantly, cooking and eating food.
