Summer 2014
Murder Mystery 2014
Our annual Purr and Paw fundraising event was great fun and a wonderful success for our shelter! For the night we transformed
the space at Horizon’s Banquet Hall into a medieval kingdom filled with animal loving Lords and Ladies. Our “Knight of Murder”
mystery theme dinner was brought to life by our volunteer actors and all our guests who joined in the fun by dressing in costume.
Best guest costume this year went to Jake Walton! In addition to the murder mystery fun, we had raffle and silent auction tables
that helped us raise over $8,000 in one night. Thank you to all that supported our event and the shelter, all proceeds from this
event will go to care for the animals at the Chippewa Humane. Success is not only attributed to the theme and the actors, but
also to the many businesses and members of the community who made this event possible with their very generous donations

Meadow came to us as a lost mamma with two
tiny 3-week old kittens. She was very thin and
almost blind. We are not sure of the traumas
she endured while fending for her little ones,
but she kept them safe and healthy! Meadow
has recently been spayed and had eye
surgery. She is currently on medications but
should make a full recovery. Meadow is a very
affectionate girl who is looking her forever
home to begin a new life off the streets.
KITTENS, KITTENS, KITTENS!!! Our kitten season was delayed
because of the long, cold winter. But it is now in full force! We have
kittens ready for adoption, newborns and single stray kittens without
mammas arriving every day who will all need homes in the near future.
Now is the time to add a little bundle of joy to your life!
Photography is a Powerful Tool!
A good photo has the power to save lives. We realize in this tech savvy time that people often shop
online for everything from food to pets. Pictures of dogs and cats in shelters often don’t show off
their good side (and we know they all have one!) Luke, Heidi and Alex Pederson from Lafayette
understand this so they volunteer at our shelter every other Saturday where they take professional
photos of about 10 -15 animals at time. Luke, with his passion of photography and Heidi’s love of
animals, make the perfect team to get that perfect shot. Alex is a high school sophomore at
Chi-Hi. Alex also likes animals very much and enjoys helping out with the shelter animal
photography. The time Alex spends volunteering at CCHA counts towards his required service
hours needed for Eagle Scout. In his spare time, Luke does photography for hire shooting unique
portraits, families, seniors, and helping a professional photographer friend with weddings. His
photography business is Apple Hill Photography and can be found on Facebook. Heidi is also a
lifetime resident of Chippewa County. Growing up on a small hobby farm, she had countless pets
and farm animals around her as a child. Thank you Luke, Heidi, and Alex for your time and patience with these creatures. Having a skilled photographer makes a huge difference for our animals
in need.
Dear Chippewa County Humane,
We wanted to drop you a note about Traveler.
Simply put, we just love him. He is the prefect cat for
our family as he loves to play and cuddle. As you can
see, he is very settled in. Thanks for all your work!

think she’s spoiled, but take a look
