NewsLines The Latest News In Our Industry products LiftMaster Launches First Internet-Connected Commercial Operator In October, LiftMaster announced its new Logic 5.0 Commercial Door Operators, the industry’s first line of Internet-connected commercial operators. Logic 5.0 integrates MyQ Technology, allowing city services such as fire stations and businesses to monitor and control their commercial doors from their connected smartphones, tablets, or computers anywhere, anytime. Since Logic 5.0 features Security+ 2.0, dealers can consolidate the number of remotes to stock. Integrated dual-voltage connections also streamline stocking needs and reduce the time required to change voltage. LiftMaster standard features are included, such as monitored entrapment protection through photo eyes and optical door edges, the Maintenance Alert System (MAS), and integrated Timer-to-Close. www.liftmaster.com Royal Introduces Replacement Garage Door Stop In November, Royal Building Products announced a replacement garage door stop for its line of garage door trim. Royal’s garage door stop is engineered to seal out dirt, bugs, wind, snow, and water, while matching most garage styles and colors. Larger than a standard garage door stop, Royal’s new stop covers old caulk and paint residue, eliminating the need for painting and scraping. Like all Royal Garage Door Trim, the replacement stop is made with 100 percent cellular PVC, requiring virtually zero maintenance from the homeowner. Royal’s easy-to-install trim—which comprises jambs, door stops, and brick molds—is available in 21 colors. www.royalbuildingproducts.com Raynor Launches Dock Door Program In October, Raynor announced its Dock Door program, featuring the most common sizes of dock doors in widths of 8', 9', and 10' and heights of 8', 9', and 10'. The Dock Door assortment includes pan doors, pan doors with insulation, and steel two-sided doors. The Duo’s control housing can be mounted almost anywhere, so it’s ideal for low-headroom and minimal-backroom applications and when there is no power outlet on the ceiling. The Duo has an integrated wall station as part of the control housing, with a 16' connector wire and wall-mounting plate. It is available in both the 550 and 800 models. www.sommer-usa.com LiftMaster Announces Internet-Enabled Access Control System In October, LiftMaster introduced IPAC (Internet Protocol Access Control), the first Internet-enabled outdoor-access control system with Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The system quickly transfers voice and data, eliminating long-distance fees and dependence on analog phone lines. IPAC stores up to 50,000 residents and does not require a dedicated computer or installed software, streamlining installation and maintenance. IPAC also includes Security+ 2.0, a large color touch-screen interface, and a full keyboard search. Enclosed in an IP65-rated weather-tight enclosure, IPAC can operate in temperatures rated from –20 to +130 degrees Fahrenheit. www.liftmaster.com/IPAC Guardian Introduces Value Model 615 In November, Guardian announced its new model 615 to fill the need for a quiet opener in the value category. The opener features a 1/2-HPequivalent DC motor and can be configured with chain or belt, T-rail or C-rail. The 615 complements the model 628, a 3/4-HP-equivalent DC opener, and 1/2-HP AC opener models 425 and 415. www.adhguardianusa.com Wayne Dalton Introduces Advanced Rolling Door Systems In October, Wayne Dalton introduced two new commercial entry systems, the Advanced Rolling Door System 800/800C ADV and the Advanced Rolling Grille Systems 600 ADV. Designed to open and close faster while delivering high cycles and durability, both products provide security and low maintenance. The Advanced Rolling Door opens two times faster than a standard sectional door and three times faster than a standard rolling door. The springless Advanced Rolling Grille opens three times faster than a standard rolling grille. Both systems include photoelectric sensors and self-monitoring 2-wire, electric fail-safe sensing edges. A drop-stop device eliminates uncontrolled downward curtain travel. Ideal applications include high-traffic areas and public buildings. www.wayne-dalton.com Raynor Updates RockCreeke Line In November, Raynor announced the redesign of its RockCreeke overlay carriage house door. The updated door features upgrades to its windows, overlays, and paint. The windows now feature a revolutionary bio-fiber polymer composite batten window system that replaces the previous plastic insert system. The battens lie flat against the glass and are locked into the window frame, eliminating noise. The top board width has been increased, the bottom board width has been decreased, and an additional board has been added directly below the window section for improved aesthetics. This new trim snaps into frames and has sleeker, thinner designs. StyleLine Trim also exposes more window glass so more natural light can enter the garage. StyleLine is an option to National Door’s Stylecraft Rustic Trim series. www.natdoor.com Wayne Dalton Adds Decal Option In August, Wayne Dalton announced the availability of custom vinyl decals that help companies increase brand awareness. The decals can be added to Wayne Dalton’s commercial rolling steel doors. Decals can also be used for numbering on dock doors, for example. Jennifer Malcuit, rolling steel product manager, says that several dealers have already taken advantage of the new decals and have been pleased with the results. www.wayne-dalton.com Linear Z-Wave Controller Earns UL 325 Certification In October, Linear announced that its Z-Wave Garage Door Opener Controller has earned UL 325 certification in addition to its prior ETL safety certification. The GD00Z can now carry the UL 325 seal for safe remote (unattended) operation of a garage door. Linear’s GD00Z provides both audible and visual warnings prior to remote activation. It also comes with a wireless sensor that reports open or closed status to the controller. Previously available on all insulated series doors, ash and mahogany were added to the custom doors after the development of a new hand-finished paint process for the overlay boards. www.haasdoor.com Model 931 in mahogany BEA Unveils 900-MHz Wireless Transmitter/Receiver In November, BEA announced its new wireless 900-MHz transmitter and receiver system. The FCC-compliant 900 is compatible with any dooractivation system and enables communication with push plates, detection sensors, and signaling devices. The system can send and receive signals up to 500' through obstacles including cement walls, doors, partitions, and low-E glass. The device can also “frequency hop,” jumping from frequency to frequency, ensuring secure and consistent transmissions in areas with many signaling devices. www.beasensors.com 12 Door + Access Systems | Winter 2014-2015 EMX Adds Waterproof Wiegand Card Reader In October, EMX announced its CR-2000, a contact-less card reader in a metal waterproof housing that also acts as a keypad control. The unit offers secure access control for 2,000 users with any combination of Mifare pass cards or individual pass codes. It can also be used for access control of doors, gates, and barrier arms. The CR-2000 features low power consumption, luminous keypad, short-circuit protection, a tamper alarm, and Wiegand output for monitoring of user access. www.emxinc.com
