Message From Lynn…
The first Maui Plein Air Painting Invitational will
grace the walls of our Contemporary Gallery starting
February 24th with a gala reception for the 25 participating artists. We are pleased to support such a
stimulating and prestigious event.
The show includes artists from Maui, Oahu, Kauai,
Big Island, Lanai and ten from the mainland.
This newly-formed contemporary group focuses
on recording the life and landscape of Hawaii and
we’ll be hosting their exhibition annually. Being
invited to participate is a sought-after honor and
surely over the years will become a great addition to
art events on Maui.
We are proud to boast that five of our fine artists
have been invited. With George Allan, Betty Hay
Freeland, Pamela Andelin, Macario Pascual and
Carleton Kinkade included, this great event will be
even more exciting.

JOE FLETCHER
WEST MAUI 24” X 36”
OIL
$3,800
Changing media is quite a challenge for most artists but Joe Fletcher has handled moving to oils on-location from
watercolor with ease. In the past few years, Joe’s work has taken on a vibrancy and displays his energetic attitude for
life. His strong and harshly applied color draws you in and shows his love for Maui and painting.

Not enough can be said describing the joy Al Furtado conveys in his flamboyant
paintings of island life. We move to the music as his colorful dancers glide across
the canvas. His charming depictions of family get-togethers bring you close to
the real Hawaiian Aloha. Deybra will add her special touch with new works for
the season. Her whimsical and yet sophisticated acrylics of animals and people
are always admired.

Carleton Kinkade finds Lahaina’s landscape perfect for his plein air oils of local
subjects. Always pushing his talents to better express his fascination with light
and shadows, Carleton’s paintings are uplifted and optimistic. He is among the
plein air artists chosen to join the Islanders plein air group having their invitational first show in our Contemporary Gallery at the end of February.

URI BLAYER

OIL
$4,200
After returning from his successful one-man show in
Israel, Uri Blayer is madly painting new work for our
show. His subtle natural colors bring his on-location oils
to life as if you are right there. Although Uri is living on
Kauai, we have coaxed him to spend time capturing some
of Maui’s great views.
Caleb O’Connor has also returned recently from his yearly
one-man show in Chicago. His reputation and client list is
growing and we are proud to present a new body of work
that focuses on his life on Maui. A master draftsman,
Caleb is concerned about accurate representation. His
palette mirrors the beauty of nature.
Please come to our reception honoring these two accomplished young artists.

120 DICKENSON STREET
$3,400
This year’s show has been inspired by the spirit of winds and ocean surrounding Maui. As the palms sway and the spindrift flies she captures the
ever fascinating movement of nature’s power. Her oils burst alive with her
unique color and style.
MARCH 31 - APRIL 20 • MACARIO PASCUAL
120 DICKENSON STREET
Artist’s Reception: Friday March 31st, 6 - 9 pm
M. PASCUAL WAHINE WORKER WITH RED BANDANA
24” X 18” OIL $4,500
The word “light” comes quickly to mind when seeing one
of Macario’s glowing oils. He finds the color of early
morning a fascinating challenge to capture. Our annual
schedule wouldn’t be complete without Mac’s wonderful
show. His limited palette and smooth application are
elements that make Macario a very collected artist.
MARCH 10 - 30, 2006
GEORGE ALLAN
120 DICKENSON STREET
Art Night Reception: Friday, March 10th, 6 - 9 pm
GEORGE ALLAN LOW TIDE AT LAHAINA HARBOR 11” X 14” OIL $2,100
George’s bright and cheerful paintings lift the spirit of all who view
them. After having opened more than thirty shows for George, I am
still thrilled by his never-ending optimism and love for Maui. Join us
at our gala reception for one of Maui’s most respected and admired
artists.

PAM ANDELIN
SHIM’S GARDEN

Pam’s favorite place is behind her trusted easel. As her vibrant colors
dance across her canvas she relies on nature to lead the way. Her sense of
composition and design set her work apart. Pam will be joining the Plein
Air Invitational in February. Her paintings hang in numerous collections
worldwide.

DAVO
ARE YOU EXPERIENCED? 30” X 30”

We blast off 2006 with our annual show of new works by Davo. A true contemporary
“pop artist”, Davo finds subjects as varied as his imagination can take him. Davo’s
skill with the silkscreen technique opens his abilities to present his work quickly and
with his own interpretive style.

Suzy paints the people of
Hawaii. Her love is to
photograph the Hula
Kahiko dancers and
transport them to her
bright and bold canvases. Often cropping her
subject, she brings out
their essence and intensity. We so look forward
to Suzy’s dazzling show.

are based on loving color and form
and she has a truly unique style.

I first saw Rebecca’s beautiful paintings at Art Maui 2005. Her drawing
and design are excellent and she incorporates such interesting patterns I
wanted to spotlight her vivid paintings for the holiday season.
