Gluing Blanks to Tubes:
Rough the entire surface of the tube using 180-grit sandpaper. Next, using either a thick CA or 5-Minute Epoxy, apply
adhesive to both the tube and the inside of the blank. To secure the brass tube into the inside of the blank rotate the tube
as you insert it into the blank. This will help ensure even coverage of the adhesive and a much more secure bond.

Squaring the Blank to Length:
When squaring the blanks
to length be sure to go only
to the brass. Removing
brass will affect the overall
length of the blank which is
critical to the proper
operation of the pen.

Turn the blank straight from bushing to bushing. Check to
ensure that the Upper Barrel (F) slides freely over the
turned blank, this is critical to the proper functioning of
the pen. With the lathe spinning, begin sanding with 120-grit
sandpaper progressing through the finer grits finishing at 320
grit. Once you finish sanding, with the blank now flush with

the bushings, apply a finish of your choice.
Assembly:
Press Copper Nib Bullet (A) onto the end of the Cas-
ing Nib Coupler (B). Next press the assembly into one of
the open ends of the finished Barrel (C).
Press the Twist Holder (D) into the open end of the
finished Barrel (C). You will notice on the Upper Barrel (F)
that the smooth section between the checkering is wider at
one end. Slide the Click Mechanism (G) into the end with
the wider distance between the checkering, and press into
place.
Remove the protective covering from the end of the
Ink Refill (E). Place the Spring (L) on the end of the Ink Refill (E), and slide into the open end of the Barrel Assembly
(A, B, C, D). Screw the Upper Barrel Assembly (F, G, H, I,
J, K onto the Twist Holder (D).
To advance the ink refill, press down on the Upper Barrel;
to retract the ink refill press again on the Upper Barrel.
Next press the Copper Primer Cap (I), tapered end
first, into the end of the Clip Retaining Coupler (H). Place
Clip (J) into the housing on the end of the Click Mechanism
(G). Push the Clip Retaining Coupler Assembly (I, H) into
the hole in the end of the Click Mechanism and press the
entire assembly together.
Slide the Trim Ring (K) onto the other end of the Click
Mechanism Assembly (F, G, H, I, J), and press until flush
with the end of the tube.
