Pumpkinferno 2014!
Come and stroll through a hauntingly beautiful and
spellbinding outdoor exhibit of thousands of hand-carved
pumpkins designed and carved by a talented group of
young artists from Eastern Ontario.
What You’ll See on YourTour…
JACK –O-LAMPPOSTS
Meet Jack, whose face will mysteriously reappear as
jack-o-lampposts throughout your visit to guide you
through the tour. Don’t be surprised if his face continually
haunts you in other places along the way. See how many
times you can spot his sinister stare, hidden in the most
secretive places.
TRAIL TOTEMS
Our own Pumpkinferno “Jack face” is joined on site by all
kinds of other jack o’lantern faces. Many are stacked into
tiny totems that stand symbolic of the season all along the
Pumpkinferno trail!
SNAZZY SNAILS
What have the dark damp nights of October revealed?
Snatch a glance at these bigger-than-life, snazzy snails,
as they sneak out from under the fallen leaves to explore
the night!

We know wildlife abounds in our region ... but only in the
north woods of Pumpkinferno can you spot our feathered

CREEPING VINES
Don’t you love how vines enhance architecture, add colour
and change with the season? These pumpkin-carved
vines have given our cabinetmaker’s shop a creepy kind
of curb appeal!
THE ANIMALS OF NOAH’S ARK

Let the flood waters rise! Animals big and small from all
corners of the earth are arriving two by two ... and the Ark
has been built, with Noah ready for the skies to open up
and the rain to fall! Do you have a boarding pass?
WHEN MOTHER NATURE CALLS
If Mother Nature is calling ... our mid-tour washroom
facilities are easily found. Look for the pumpkin-carved
sign!
PUMPKIN PATTERNS

These delicately carved pumpkins present a collection
of patterns derived from a variety of cultures, customdesigned into intricate works of art that emanate light
beautifully into the night.
HARVEST BARN RESTAURANT
Now open for anyone wishing to stop mid-tour for
a “Dinner After-Dark” special; choose from
Vegetarian Lasagna, Cabbage Rolls or
Chicken Leg & Thigh. The Barn’s regular
menu of fast-food entrees, desserts and
beverages is also available.
FIELD OF FLOWERS
Make your way along a meadow path of
over a hundred glowing flowers, under the watchful
gaze of three giant flowers, all home to a delightful
bouquet of hovering hummingbirds.
VILLAGE OF THE DAM’D

The Lost Villages that were flooded in the construction of
the Hydro-Electric Dam and St. Lawrence Seaway in the
1950s are an important part of the region’s heritage, and
many of the buildings in Upper Canada Village were saved
and relocated here from these communities.

THE BATTLE THAT SAVED CANADA
Upper Canada Village continues
to commemorate the nearby Battle
of Crysler’s Farm that took place on
November 11, 1813 with this special exhibit.

PAINTED PUMPKIN ART
Partnering with the Upper Canada District School Board
and the Catholic School Board of Eastern Ontario,
Pumpkinferno is proud to present a whimsical display of
hundreds of individually painted pumpkins, created by
area school children between Kindergarten and Grade 8.

HALL OF HOROSCOPES
Marvel at this magnificent 100 foot long corridor of stars,
constellations and signs of the zodiac, all artistically
created from over a thousand carved pumpkins!!
MONSTER SMASH
This smashing new exhibit is a play on iconic ‘Halloween
Movie Monsters’, featuring the traditional creatures
associated with Halloween. Meet up with the Monster
of Frankenstein, Frankenbride, a Werewolf, Mummy and
Vampire!
GUARDIANS OF THE NIGHT – THE GREAT GARGOYLE

Deep into the darkness, strange creatures survive,
protectors of all unseen. The Great Gargoyle has found his
perch in the shadows of Christ Church ... while the bats
from the belfry come out to hang out with him.
TIED-UP SALOON
The Wild West would have its own ghost tales to tell. While
the gritty action ensues in the livery yard, these cowboys’
SPIRITED STEEDS are safe within a heritage space that is
home to the Village’s own Canadian Horses.
YEAR OF THE HORSE
One lively stallion has broken free and rises in salute to
the Year of the Horse. Come back and enjoy horse drawn
wagon rides through the summer and during our Alight at
Night event in December. Don’t miss the Village’s annual
Horse Lovers event!
ORRICK AND THE OWLS
Orrick is an old English name
for Old Oak Tree. The Village’s
own majestic oak has
become home to the hooters
of the night. These wise old
friends have returned again
to bid visitors a final farewell
as the last stop on the tour.
