Jan Ammann (register high baritone) already took singing lessons during his school days and was
awarded at the highly regarded contest “JUGEND MUSIZIERT”. Being coached by credited baritone
Douglas Yates who formed Jan as a classic singer, Jan Ammann got a scholarship at Rice University
Houston and attended master classes in New York, Leipzig and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Whilst
studying at the University for Music and Theatre, Munich, Jan was offered the title role in the musical
LUDWIG II. in Füssen.
After two more years of studies in the US, among others at the prestigious NOHO North Hollywood
Acting Center in Los Angeles, Jan Ammann also took over the title role in the world premiere of the
en suite production of LUDWIG2, also presented in Füssen. Further stages in his musical career were
leading parts in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, MAR I CEL and WEST SIDE STORY. For performing the
challenging double role in JEKYLL & HYDE at the Bad Hersfeld festival in 2008, Jan Ammann was
awarded with the coveted audience prize.

From November 2008 till October 2011 Jan starred as the irresistible seductive Graf von Krolock in
Roman Polanski’s smash hit musical TANZ DER VAMPIRE.
In October 2010, Jan Ammann released his first solo album titled “MUSICAL”, reflecting in 14 songs
parts of his previous career as singer and actor in the musical business.
Born in Westfalia, Jan also is much asked as soloist at galas, concerts and song recitals throughout
Europe and Northern America. Together with his musical colleagues Christian Alexander Müller, Mark
Seibert and Patrick Stanke, Jan Ammann since 2010 is one of the founding members of the
successful MUSICAL TENORS concert series.
In 2011, Jan Ammann celebrated a very special premiere when some of his work as photographer
was presented to the impressed audience at a highly noticed exhibition at Stuttgart town hall.
Starting 28 October 2011 and running until 17 March 2012, the charismatic artist was successfully
touring Germany with his first solo program “LAMPENFIEBER“. The ambitious mixture of musical
songs, pop songs and chansons proves the wide artistical range of Jan Ammann. This program was
acclaimed in the same way by critics and audience. At the end of 2012, a live double album
documenting the “Lampenfieber“ program was released.
In fall 2012, Jan Ammann appeared on German TV performing a celebrated opera singer “Moritz
von Redloff” in an episode („Das Flauchermädchen“) of the TV series GERRY UND DER GRAF.
In 2011 und 2012, Jan Ammann was rewarded best actor in a leading role in a long run production
receiving the DA-CAPO Musical Award by German musical magazine DA-CAPO.
In 2012, Jan Ammann performed the role of Maxim de Winter in the musical REBECCA running en
suite at Stuttgart Palladium Theatre. For his convincing portrait in this drama musical the readers of
Germanys leading specialized journal MUSICALS awarded Jan „best actor in 2012“.
In summer 2013, Jan Ammann was seen on stage at the Bad Hersfeld festival starring as Gaylord
Ravenal in the musical SHOWBOAT.
From November 2013 until February 2014, Jan portrayed the role of King Marchan in the musical
VICTOR/VICTORIA running at the Altes Schauspielhaus in Stuttgart.
From 01.07.2014 until 30.05.2016, Jan Ammann performed silverback “Kerchak” at the STAGE
APOLLO Theatre, Stuttgart, in DISNEY’S MUSICAL TARZAN before returning to his signature role as
Graf von Krolock. TANZ DER VAMPIRE runs with him performing in Berlin's Theater des Westens
and Munich's Deutsches Theater until January 2017.
Besides his stage career Jan Ammann worked together with renowned lyricists and composers on
his solo album “FARBENBLIND” which was released in 2014.
With the same-titled live program, Jan toured Germany in 2014 and 2015.

His current, in October 2016 released album “WUNDER GESCHEHEN” with songs from the musical
theatre about life and love was produced by Nico Gaik's famous sound factory NGArts.
