SCALABLE. FLEXIBLE. FUTURE PROOF.
ONPATH’s UCS™ 3900 is a family of network switching products that
automates and secures data center and test infrastructure.
The platform helps network managers conserve
time, increase utilization, and save money
compared to manual patching, static TAPs, SPAN
ports, or complex mesh switching architectures.
ONPATH 3900 PLATFORM
ONPATH’s patented 3-stage switching technology
provides the industry’s most scalable and reliable
switching system of up to 576 non-blocking and

ONPATH 3900 SERIES
SCALABLE
The 3900 series of switches is available in 1, 3, and 12 slot compact form factors and
is the highest density connectivity and monitoring solution available offering savings
in rack space, power, and cooling. Each ONPATH Layer 1 switch blade (S-Blade or
G-Blade) supports an industry leading 48 ports of connectivity and/or monitoring per rack unit, while
the optical switch blade (O-Blade) supports 96 fully non-blocking ports in 2 rack units. The Layers 2-4 packet
switching blade (P-Blade) supports up to 48 ports of 1/10Gbps Ethernet and 4 ports of 40Gbps Ethernet
P-Blade
16 to 576 ports of non-blocking connectivity without wasting ports on inter switch links.
systems provides scalability of over 100,000 ports.
S-Blade
FLEXIBLE
The ONPATH 3900 family supports a hybrid electrical and all-optical non-blocking switching fabric and a hybrid
Layer 1 and Layers 2-4 packet switching fabric in the same platform. The universal S-Blade provides any-toany connectivity, while the integrated test access ports and multicast functions allow nonintrusive,
low-latency monitoring and one-to-many connectivity. Ports within the same blade can support
Ethernet as well as Fibre Channel applications across a wide range of data rates
from 1Gbps to 10Gbps. The all-optical O-Blade supports all photonic applications
ranging from analog to digital with data rates up to 100Gbps and beyond. The

balancing, adding intelligence and optimization to your monitoring applications. ONPATH 3903 and 3912
the industry’s highest availability.
FUTURE PROOF
The modular architecture of the UCS 3900 enables a “pay as you grow” model for the
full capacity needed per application or site. All blades are interchangeable across any
switch in the family providing investment protection as needs scale with increased
connectivity and monitoring. In addition, as network speeds increase from low speeds to
high speeds, the same infrastructure scales up to all current and future Ethernet and Fibre Channel
speeds via simple software settings, without additional hardware costs.

APPLICATIONS
NETWORK MONITORING ACCESS
Everyone is being pressured to see more of the usage, performance hurdles, and security risks
across their networks. Network monitoring is becoming increasingly important at all places
and all times. A well designed network monitoring access architecture helps increase network
performance, security, and compliance. It provides the opportunity to guarantee network and
application performance or easily manage change across new data centers or services. It also
facilitates the monitoring and detection of intellectual property theft. And it makes it much easier
to support the increasing regulatory compliance mandates, such as SOX, IFRS, HIPPA, and PCIDSS.
TEST AUTOMATION
Product and application testing is an intensive process that needs to move fast but often takes
a tremendous amount of time and resources to complete correctly. The right test automation
infrastructure enables the productivity, optimization, and scale required. It provides the
test operations from anywhere in the world. Test automation enables the sharing of expensive
tools, increasing overall equipment utilization, and the acceleration of repeatable processes.
regression or interoperability testing globally.
CYBER SECURITY
The information traveling across networks is growing in both volume and sensitivity. Security
measures at the facility level have far outweighed the efforts and money spent at the network
level. A comprehensive cyber secure infrastructure enables the protection, visibility, and change
management needed for high-performance networks. It helps protect against cyber attacks and
isolate or secure segments while improving reliability and downtime. Cyber security initiatives
to monitor more networks and applications can be achieved while increasing the utilization of
existing resources. A facility or network consolidation, along with personnel turnover and training
risks, can be well managed with lower budgets.
CLOUD NETWORKING
Cloud computing comes in a variety of types, ranging from private clouds to public clouds,
and dedicated clouds to shared clouds. Regardless, cloud networking enables the elasticity,
have on-demand access that scales to changing requirements in a pay- as-you-go business
model. Cloud networking reduces costs, increases equipment utilization, and reduces power,
cooling, and space. And it can do this with the security, access, and monitoring so often desired
but never achieved.
