The gobo is a cut out metal plate with a particular shape or image such as a
window, a tree or a cloud. Gobos are used in profile spots and no other type of
lantern. There are hundreds to choose from, please see this reference book.
When ordering, the reference number and size are essential information.
Different profile spots require different sizes - if you don’t know the gobo
size quote the lantern type. You will need a holder for the gobo, again, there
are many holders so please let us know the lantern you will be using.
Remember that the profile spot inverts the image and so the gobo has to be
inserted upside down and back to front.
There are glass gobos available which give a much bigger effect but will only
work with modern lanterns due to the higher specifications and heat
dispersal properties required.

The gobo fits in the centre of a profile spot. Fresnels and pc’s are no good for this purpose!
