Some Insights into the Proven Performance of Quality Foam
We draw upon literally hundreds of different foam densities and consult
with the respective health professionals to ensure the elements of
density, support, comfort and foam longevity are compatible. In other
words our foams are able to offer controllable densities which we have
matched to each need.
Where our cervical pillows are concerned, we CUT our foam. We don’t
mould pillows (pouring liquid urethane into a mould to form the shape)
as this may produce a ’skin‘ on the surface. In cutting our foam to
shape, the pillow is left without a skin, thus allowing the head and neck
to nestle and be cushioned. NO BOUNCE!... NO REBOUND!
Cutting the foam also has the added benefit of allowing our pillows to
breathe in that it ‘opens’ the surface area. As well, more intricate and
practical shapes can be achieved to meet design and comfort criteria.
Also, being synthetic, foam has the potential to minimise allergic
reactions in allergy and asthma sufferers, and where dustmites are
concerned new foam contains no proteins which dustmites need to
survive. Our foams are also specially treated to effectively control
mould, mildew, bacteria and dustmites.
In conclusion, modern foam technology now provides us with the golden
opportunity to marry the right product to the user, using the correct
compound for optimum pressure diffusion.
A word about rubber from the rubber tree: we do NOT use natural latex
rubber except for one product, our Relief Ring Cushion. Natural rubber
latex is high on compression and we feel this may induce rebound
which is not desirable for pillows and back supports, but is excellent for
load bearing in donut shapes like the Relief Ring Cushion.
Traditional Foam versus Memory Foam
Traditional foam uses open-cellular technology and has excellent
ongoing comfort and support characteristics. We use only quality
grades of this foam (for product longevity reasons) and are able to draw
from over 40 densities and softness styles to achieve the right
‘marriage’.
Memory foam (technical term visco elastic) has a modified cellular
makeup which gives it temperature-sensitive qualities for a soft, pliable
feel. (This pressure-diffusion pliability is what basically separates it from

traditional foam. It is also more costly to produce). Its development was
inspired by NASA seeking a special foam with ‘forgiving’ properties to
