The Most Advanced Building Parts in the Markets

Starting with the Basics
The starting point for designing a Honka log house always lies
with the customer’s needs regarding space and lifestyle. Model
booklets and Honka dealers will provide you with functional
ideas that you can use either as they are or as a basis for your
own ideas. Once you have found your ideal model for a house,
you can start selecting your HonkaLook parts. Some of the
HonkaLook parts are optional even in the basic model (e.g. the
architraves or window trims, and the eaves structures) and some
parts are optional extras (e.g. dormer and bay windows).
More Design with HonkaLook Parts
HonkaLook parts can be used to modify both the interior and
the exterior of your log house; the range of accessories is immensely
versatile. Several options also exist for each accessory. Honka
houses can be equipped to achieve an impressive and personal

Hirret - Logs
Rakennuksen käyttötarkoitus ja oma mieltymys ratkaisevat hirren
valinnan. Hirsi vaikuttaa myös Honkarakenteen talon arkkitehtuuriin.
Massiivinen pyöröhirsi sopii parhaiten klassiseen tyyliin. Moderneissa
hirsitaloissa suositaan kantikasta hirttä ja lyhyitä hirsinurkkia; yleisilme
on keveä ja selkeä.
Logs are chosen based on the purpose of the building and personal preference.
The choice of log also affects the architecture of a Honka house. The majestic
round logs suit the classic style. Rectangular logs and short corners are
recommended for modern log houses to achieve a light and clear-cut look.

Mininurkka - Mini Cross Corner

The appearance of a traditional log house can be amended
with the length of the corner. Alternatives for the standard
cross corner include a mini cross corner and a cage corner
that are especially suitable for urban applications. Mini cross
corners are available for all rectangular logs and for round
logs of 130, 150 and 170 mm. Note! Diagonal Cross Corner
135° is also available (see the topmost picture on this page).

You can add an insulation wall either on the inside or the outside of a log house. If
insulation is applied on the outside, the authentic log is on display indoors.

The wedge notches of the cross corners increase the compactness of the log wall.
The ball notch is a new type of notch for the substantially sized VLL 164-, MLL 182and 204 logs. The Honka log products are certified and hold various technical and visual
patents as well as protection on the desing.

Viimeistele muotoilulla
Kun hirsi höylätään suoraksi ikkunoiden ja ovien ympäriltä, saadaan vuorilaudat
istumaan tiiviisti ja samalla koko talon ulkonäkö paranee. Hirret voi muotoilla
myös sisäpuolelta osittain tai kokonaan sileiksi, jolloin kalustukseen, sisustukseen
ja taulujen ripustamiseen avautuu uusia mahdollisuuksia. Vain Hongalta saa
pyöröhirsien muotoilun.
Finish Off with Design
By planing the logs straight around windows and doors, the architraves can be
made to sit tight while also improving the appearance of the entire house. Logs
can also be styled partially or fully planed on the inside to open up new opportunities
for furnishing, interior decoration and hanging pictures.

Pergolat - Pergolas
Aamiaisterassi, vilpola tai kesähuone – vakiorakenteisella pergolalla

Bay windows and dormers enhance the appearance of a log house
as well as adding space. Thanks to the Honka precut delivery,
installation is fast and reliable, since all parts are dimensioned, preprocessed and numbered.

Wall and floor bay windows are delivered precut in a standard or dimensioned
size. Glass is permanently fitted to the frame on site. The windows come with
insulated glass that is included in the delivery. Side windows that can be opened
are also available as an option. There is space for blister lights in the ceiling and
for a heater sat the bottom.

DK-ikkuna on eurooppalainen huippuluokan ikkuna: tiivis ja turvallinen. Markkinoiden massiivisin puuikkuna on valmistettu tiukkasyisestä
männystä. Kaksitoiminen ikkuna aukeaa tuuletusasentoon tai sivulle.
DK-ikkunaan on saatavilla ulkopintaan asennettava irtoristikko, joka

DK windows are top-quality European windows: air-tight and safe.
The massive DK windows are made of high-quality Nordic pine with tight
annual rings. The tilt-and-turn windows can be opened into a position
suitable for airing or they can open to the side. DK windows can be
equipped with an external lattice, which can be detached for cleaning.
You can choose between five detachable lattice models varying from classic
to modern (see models pages 21-22). DK windows can be equipped with
different types of glass for various conditions and e.g. energy requirements.
A fixed FF version, that cannot be opened, is also available.

The standard sized FIN and DK windows can also be manufactured as

Window and door installations into log walls are finished with preprocessed spreader mouldings as well as with architraves (window

DKT and PSK terrace doors work simultaneously as windows and as versatile
exits to terraces and balconies. Since the handle operation is only available on
the inside, they are not suitable as entrances. DKT terrace doors are available

The thresholds of both doors are equipped with a high "weather sill".

Honka standard sauna benches are made of solid aspen, either untreated
with very light colour or heat-treated with darker colour. Aspen is an
excellent wood for sauna benches since the low heat value does not reach
high temperatures. Honka standard sauna benches are delivered in readymade assembly packs.
A stool and safety railing are included in the deliveries; backrest lattices and
mid-platform lattices can be ordered as options.
