The mother and daughter team of Marie & Marelize van Rooyen of Retirement Villages SA
are well known Retirement Property Specialists, based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape
Town.
With a combined experience of almost 60 years within the property industry, their latest
business was a natural expansion from Nationlink Plattekloof, their Real Estate Agency
operating in the Plattekloof area for 30 years.
Together they have been involved in numerous Villages in the greater Western Cape
area, and have been involved with the complete process from conceptualization,
through the various planning stages to the sales and eventual re-sales and
management of in excess of 50 retirement rental units.
Their passion for Retirement Villages developed from the trauma in their own greater
family circle when sufficient planning was not done - and the first hand experience of
the way the children and grandchildren are being affected by this brought them into
this specialized field of Real Estate Investment.
This has lead them to believe that it is crucial for this service and the investment
opportunity to develop and grow, and they have a special dream for a village where
the special needs of the Dementia and Alzheimer patients can be fully catered for,
once again, a dream born from their own experience.

The family are proud of their heritage of involvement in property and the community of
the greater Parow Area.

Both fathers/grandfathers were civil servants in the old Parow Municipality, one as Mayor
(Hans Botha) and the other as Town Clerk (Gert van Rooyen). It was during the time of
Gert van Rooyen Snr that the names for Panorama and Plattekloof is said to have been
switched around.

The wallpaper on the much talked about feature wall behind their reception is a copy of
an actual Agreement of Sale dating back to 1919 for a property in Churchill Estate
(Parow West), and was found in the safe of an extended family member.
