8-10"
The Sweet Potato Vine has become a gardener’s favourite because of the variety it adds in colour and form. Proven Winners
offers two exceptional series of Sweet Potato Vines: Illusion, which we introduced in 2010, and Sweet Caroline, a
long-time consumer favourite in three different series that now have the power of the Proven Winners brand behind them.
ILLUSION® Ipomoea batatas
The texture of Illusion is unique in the industry, with very compact, dense,
lacy, dissected foliage. Plus, its controlled growth habit means it
won’t overpower the garden. Illusions are ideal for small pot
production, summer gallons, and mixed containers.
They are showy plants that will behave
themselves on the retail bench.
■
■
Needs 200-250 ppm fertilizer
for optimal growth.
Keep air circulation up and
foliage dry. Prolonged wet
foliage may lead to bacterial
leaf spotting.
Use 2500 ppm of B-9 to
maintain shape on 4.5".
6-8"
Sweet Carolines are now Proven Winners. With 9 beautiful varieties in 3 distinct series,
this already popular plant has gained even greater notoriety with the Proven Winners
name behind it. All are heat and humidity tolerant and grow vigorously across
the U.S. and Canada, although the farther south you go the faster Sweet
Carolines grow. The Sweet Caroline series is the least compact but
has the widest colour palette and finger-shaped leaves.

LUSCIOUS Lantana camara
®
LANDSCAPE
This series adds vibrancy, flower power, and exceptional performance to the continuous blooming that Lantanas are known
for. The impressive quartet will win you over with their bright colors and heat and drought tolerance. These exceptionally
vigorous growers are butterfly and hummingbird magnets and require no deadheading. Day-length neutral.
Growing Tips for LUSCIOUS® Lantana
■
■
■
■
■
Needs 200 ppm fertilizer for optimal growth.
High light in production is essential.
Warm and slightly dry conditions after transplanting
speeds root in and growth.
Use caution with Florel®, as it can cause leaf drop and leaf curl.
For best results, northern growers may want to order first
shipments in mid-spring when temperatures and light levels
rise. Cold and wet conditions can double crop time.
Additional Notes for LUSCIOUS® Grape Lantana
Luscious Grape is a true trailing variety. This may
require an additional pinch to fill out 4-5” containers.
Crop time will be about 2 weeks longer than
others in the series and can be shortened
by increasing the number of liners per pot.
LUSCIOUS® BERRY BLEND™ Lantana camara ‘LAN 876’ USPPAF CanPBRAF
This new variety joins Citrus Blend as one of the largest in the Luscious
line-up. A vibrant pink and yellow bloomer, it grows tall and wide, filling
containers and landscapes with bright flowers even in the toughest heat
of the season. Perfect for 4.25 Grande™ and 1.0 Royale™ containers.
New this year.
LUSCIOUS® Piña Colada Lantana camara ‘**’ USPPAF CanPBRAF
This new addition to the Luscious series is sure to quickly become a
favourite, with its masses of white flowers with yellow centers and its
rich, dark green foliage. A vigorous grower that is ideal for 4.25
Grande™ and 1.0 Royale™ containers. New this year.

Mike McGuire, of CISN-FM in Edmonton, endorsed Proven
Winners on-air and online with a unique promotional campaign
that featured a garden renovation at his home. McGuire, a
novice gardener, planted Proven Winners varieties, photographed
their progress, and blogged about the project on a custom
webpage designed specifically for this promotion. Not only
could listeners hear about his garden renovation on his radio
show and follow it on the webpage, they could access
additional information on Proven Winners from links established
on his page or interact with him via Help Mike and Ask Mike buttons on the site. The promotion also
included a weekly trivia contest for listeners. Answers to those questions could be found on the Proven
Winners website and prizes were Proven Winners gift certificates, which provide more direct promotional
opportunities. In addition, CISN included Proven Winners banner ads in their weekly newsletters to listeners.

If there’s one plant that should be on everyone’s list, it’s Snow Princess, a unique breakthrough in the genus for heat tolerance
and extended season performance. This sterile Lobularia is extremely vigorous, and because it puts no energy into setting
seed it has an incredibly long bloom time. In fact, Snow Princess displays mounds of fragrant white blooms from April
through November. Creates a great hanging basket or window box and is a perfect filler in combination.

LANDSCAPE
1-3"
If you think of Nierembergia as Mont Blanc and Purple Robe, Augusta Blue Skies
will surprise you. Not only does it have large, beautiful, blue flowers but it has
magnificent foliage to match. The lush evergreen leaves give body to the plant to
back up the tremendous blooms. Plus, it has exceptional heat tolerance and will
hold its blooms from mid-May all the way through summer and into multiple
fall frosts. Though it is slow to start, heat and light will create a beautiful
brancher and prolific bloomer.
This true yellow Mecardonia flowers 6 weeks earlier
than others. GoldDust’s blooms are significantly smaller
but far more plentiful than other Mecardonia. This
beauty loves the heat.
