Making Learning Fun
You may have noticed all the balloons outside and in the
halls of Calera Elementary Thursday. We were celebrating
the 100th Day of school. Some students and teachers
dressed up like they were 100, others made special hats
and projects to celebrate 100 Days Smarter. Kindergarten
students made posters filled with 100 things to celebrate
learning to count to 100! We are all excited we have been
learning at CES for 100 Days!
The Third Grade Halls are filled with posters, poem, and portraits of students. These
are part of a poem project called “I Am.” The students from several classes work hard
on grammar and writing skills, such as poetry this time of year. These poems get the
students thinking about themselves and using adjectives. When the students finished,
they were able to type their poems, illustrate their drawings, and publish their finished
projects! They look awesome!

Honored to be a five-star bank!
“Bauer has rated Central State, founded in 1916, as a five-star bank each year since 1979”
“Three years ago, during the height of the banking crisis, it was the only bank
with area branches to receive five-star ratings from Bauer and another
Florida rating agency, Bankrate.com.”

You should receive a Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement,
from each of your employers for use in preparing your federal
tax return. Employers must furnish this record of 2012
earnings and withheld taxes no later than January 31, 2013 (if
mailed, allow a few days for delivery).
If you do not receive your Form W-2, contact your
employer to find out if and when the W-2 was mailed. If it
was mailed, it may have been returned to your employer
because of an incorrect address. After contacting your
employer, allow a reasonable amount of time for your
employer to resend or to issue the W-2.
If you still do not receive your W-2 by February 15th,
contact the IRS for assistance at 1-800-829-1040. When you
call, have the following information handy:
• the employer's name and complete address, including zip
code, and the employer's telephone number;
• the employer's identification number (if known);
• your name and address, including zip code, Social Security
number, and telephone number; and
• an estimate of the wages you earned, the federal income
tax withheld, and the dates you began and ended
employment.
MAYOR , Jon Graham
JANUARY 2013
MISSING YOUR W-2 FORM?
If you misplaced your W-2, contact your employer. Your
employer can replace the lost form with a "reissued
statement." Be aware that your employer is allowed to charge
you a fee for providing you with a new W-2.
You still must file your tax return on time even if you do
not receive your Form W-2. If you cannot get a W-2 by the
tax filing deadline, you may use Form 4852, Substitute for
Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement (available on the IRS
website), but it will delay any refund due while the
information is verified.
If you receive a corrected W-2 or 1099 after your return is
filed and the information it contains does not match the
income or withheld tax that you reported on your return, you
must file an amended return on Form 1040X, Amended U.S.
Individual Income Tax Return.
Call for an appointment to fit your schedule. If you elect
to have our fee taken out of your refund, no payment is due
at the time of service. Come see why we have so many happy
clients!
In today’s economy, you need a strong alliance.

Caleb King is in
Mrs. Pickett's 5th
Grade class at
Calera
Intermediate. After
School and on the
weekends he
spends his time on
the BMX track.
Caleb started
racing in 3rd
Grade. His dad
took him to Oak
Mountain to ride
on the track there. He met some racers there and asked if he
could join. His dad has been with him at every race now.
Caleb said he has never been to a race without him. He races
with HRP/Clayborn. They race all over the US as team and
individual. His favorite model bike to ride is the GT speed
series. Caleb finished tenth out of 120 plus riders in the state
last season for his class. He is seventh in the state for his
cruiser (20 plus riders).
