Life would be so much easier if you could just do that one thing.
If you could just change that plug, cook that meal, design that
website, get that promotion or ask for that raise.
At HRC, the question’s not what if, but why not? Fight your
frustrations head on and open up a world of new opportunities
with a part-time course.
Don’t get by, get ahead!
Social Media
One of the best ways to find
out about life at college and
what happens on our courses is
by visiting our Facebook and Twitter
pages. These are full of photos, videos
and stories from many of our current
students. Take a look around, ask us a
question, download a prospectus and view our
courses without even leaving the house.

24+ Advanced
Learning Loans
Start your course at HRC with the help
of a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan
They say you can’t put a price on a good
education yet course fees stop many people
studying part-time every year.
If you’re aged 24 or over, you can now apply for a
24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help towards the
cost of your course, starting on or after 1st
August, 2013.
What’s changed?
Loans are available for all of our level three and
four courses, including advanced apprenticeships,
and do not have to be paid back until you start
earning at least £21,000 per year from
April 2016.
From August this year, the government will be
withdrawing this funding meaning that you, the
student, will now be responsible for covering the
full cost of your course yourself.
No upfront course, registration or exam
fees to pay.
Start repayments only when you’re
earning £21,000 or above.
You may not have realised before, but the
government used to fund 50 percent of course
costs for adult learners at level three and above.
24+ Advanced Learning Loans have been
introduced to help with payments and are offered
by the Skills Funding Agency and the Student
Loans Company.
Low-interest repayments at inflation plus
up to 3%.
For more details about 24+ Advanced Learning
Loans, pick up a one of our information packs at
either campus or download a copy online now.
Outstanding loan balance written off
after 30 years.
Making your own decision
No credit check or income assessment.
It is important that you make your own decision
about financing your course based on your own
personal circumstances. We cannot give you
financial advice but we do advise you to look into
all available options before choosing to take out
a loan. Please contact the Money Advice Service
for independent financial advice at
www.moneyadviceservice.co.uk
24+ Bursary
If you are approved for an Advanced Learning
Loan, you may also be eligible for the 24+
Bursary to help with costs related to your course,
such as travel, books and childcare. Call us on

Higher Education
Everybody knows that university
is expensive. So what if we said
you could get a degree, enjoy a
student lifestyle and benefit
from modern facilities at a
fraction of the cost?
Why study a degree at HRC?
That’s right. If you study for a foundation
degree at HRC, you’ll not only get a fullyrecognised qualification at the end of it but
also unlimited access to University of
Hertfordshire facilities, including the
sports centre and Students’ Union.
Over two thirds of our Foundation degree
students go on to study at the University of
Hertfordshire while others opt for different
universities around the country or enter
full-time work.
What is a Foundation Degree?
A Foundation degree is equivalent to the
first two years of an Honours degree.
Foundation degrees consist of academic
study integrated with relevant work-based
learning undertaken with an employer. It is
recognised as a stand-alone qualification in
its own right but can also allow progression
to the final year of an Honours degree at
university. Foundation degrees are
studied at HRC.
All of our degree courses are offered as
part of the Hertfordshire Higher Education
Consortium and are validated by the
University of Hertfordshire. This means
that you will become a student of them as
well as us and benefit from facilities at the
university and the college.
Foundation degrees are also a great way to
enter higher education if you don’t have the
UCAS points needed for an Honours degree
right away. Build up your skills and
confidence at HRC, then finish it off at
university or add your new, respected
qualification to your CV as it is.

Writing
Have you got a story you’re longing to tell?
One that you’re sure – you’re hopeful – will sell?
Create villains at large and heroes for all,
Good guys who are nice and enemies cruel;
Enrol on a course – make your writing great,
And look forward to riches that could still await.
