The word from Rod
Welcome to the first edition
of our Triumph Enthusiasts at
Millard magazine.
Bike Maintenance, Page 11
After many requests, I am excited to
present this newsletter as another
form of keeping valued clients like you
in touch with all the latest releases,
in-store specials and Millard events.
I would also like to say a special
thanks to photographer Ian
Robertson who joined us on our
last ride providing photos for the
magazine.
My focus is on improving our
communication systems over the
coming months. There are some
exciting times ahead with Triumph
and Millard which the Millard team
looks forward to sharing with you via
this newsletter and our Blog.
I’m not going to give too
much away just yet, but
you can expect to see
an online ride calendar,
several great events,
rides and some fantastic
opportunities to get
more out of your bike.
Enjoy. Ride Safe and I hope to see
you on the road at our next Millard
ride so we can share the passion.
Rod, Owner Millard Motorcycles
DAVID BOURNE
MANAGER MOTORCYCLE RELATIONSHIPS
Lives: Busselton for 10 years
From: Merredin, half way between Perth and Kalgoorlie
At Millard: Just under a year, after working with car parts
Why Motorbikes: In Merredin there isn’t much to do,
so I used to go out riding with family and friends on the
weekend, just dirt bikes mainly. In Busselton things slowed
down a bit but I still do a bit of dirt riding and I’m starting to
do some road rides now.
First Bike: PeeWee 50, passed down from my brother. I
started riding when I was about 10 years old.
Last Ride Update, Page 6
Now: Yamaha Quad bike
Next Bike: Triumph Daytona
Favourite Ride: Old Nannup golf course (Pineridge Golf
Club), as it’s good to go off and find tracks
For Fun: I like working on my cars and do a bit of drifting so
there’s always something to do on my cars. Now I’ve cut
back to two cars but until a couple of weeks ago I had five.
I’m not experienced yet for comps, just doing it for fun.
This months feature bike, Page 4
Future Plans: I want to stay with bikes a while, it lets me be
a little bit creative and it’s different to selling a car. When
you sell a bike you’re not selling something someone
needs, but more for a lifestyle or hobby. It sparks that
similar interest with someone and automatically gets that
connection. It’s awesome seeing the amount of different
people coming and buying bikes and parts. So I want
to stay here while trying to work on starting up my own
clothing label and building my next car to take drifting
somewhere. I want to go to Japan in the next few years
and drift over there.
Tell us more: I’ve had the idea of a clothing label for years
and it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s at the very
early stages, just getting everything set up, and I’m working
with a friend who lives in Melbourne. He does a lot of
design work. We’ve been trying to get it up running for the
last month.
Advice for new riders: Just do it. It’s worth it. It’s completely
different to living in the city where you can flow through
traffic and get to work so much easier - it takes that side
out of it to some extent, but it opens up the lifestyle tour
mode. Here it’s more for the Sunday riders who want
to jump on their bike and go for a two hour ride, go to
a winery in Margaret River or something like that and
experience something different to a car.
Advice to Millard customers: The first thing to do is figure
out what you’re comfortable on, what type of position.
For me it’s about selling the right bike, it’s about getting
customers on the right bike for them. I’ll find something
right for you.

ROADSTER 3 (2300CC)
NEVILLE LUSH TUNED
203RWHP
Lives: Busselton
From: Mildura, Victoria
Riding: for 40 years
First Bike: Suzuki TM125 motocross bike
Best thing about owning a bike: getting out there
and getting the wind in the hair
Lives: Ferguson Valley
From: Bunbury and Collie
First bike: Steve Honda XL250
Favourite Ride: (Steve) Charley Creek Road
in between Lowden Road near Kirup is a nice
winding road with nice ups and downs and
beautiful views. Albany is a good overnighter,
and Nannup is always a good ride.
(Lisa) We’ve done a few rides down to Nannup
and just stay at the chalet at the caravan park.
Favourite Stop: Balingup Coffee Shop
Best thing about owning a bike: (Lisa) It’s just a
choice. If it’s raining we’ve got the car. It’s just
a lifestyle choice. (Steve) It’s being able to travel
light. You travel light and it’s the freedom and the
open air - just cruising.
When I’m not riding I’m: working up north in the
Pilbara
We got this bike because we have more time
since our daughter left home, so now it’s a form
of relaxation for us on the weekends to get away
and travel. We can go further now.
Favourite Ride: Caves Road and Margaret River
Advice for new riders: I suggest you check out
Favourite Stop: Margaret River Pub
Advice for new riders: keep your eyes open - don’t
become a statistic
the Triumph range as they’ve got beginner bikes
right up to top, and they are value for money compared to other brands you are just getting so
much for your money.
TYRE PRESSURE
You should be checking your tyre pressure once a week
because tyres lose pressure regularly. Because your tyre is
flexing a lot more there is no strength in it without the right
pressure. With that, you lose handling, including braking
and shorten the life of the tyre. It also affects the economy
of the bike as well.
Nitro tyre is a product used to help retain tyre pressure
for longer. You still have to check your tyres but it helps
the pressure to last longer, up to six times longer than
conventional compressed air.
The best thing to use to check tyre pressure is a digital
tyre gauge that you can buy from any automotive store for
around $20.
