welcome new members - Farmers and Merchants Bank of South
3rd Quarter 2013
Horizons Club Members,.
What a great year the Horizons Club of the Farmers & Merchants Bank of SC is
having! We have been on a “Valentine Mystery Trip” to Anderson and Greenville; we bought
lots of flowers on the “Spring Fever” trip in April; we played bingo and ate Tom Jennings’
famous fried chicken with all the fixings; we had an “uplifting” trip to the Ohio Amish
country in May and the “Something Special” trip was truly moving.
With two trips remaining I am sorry to say, though, we do not have a single seat
available. If you have not been able to go with us this year, please know that our 2014
calendar is full of events for you to join us. Check out the inside of the newsletter for
details.
I know it is early to talk about Christmas, but we will be returning to the Utopia
Restaurant in Holly Hill for our annual Christmas meal. We will host an early dinner this
year (around 4:00 PM) on December 19th. Please watch our next newsletter and mark
your calendars so you will be included in the fun.
Our bank has been in business since 1912 and we want to thank all of you for making
us so successful. It is because of our dedicated, loyal customers that we have been able to
serve your needs for over 100 years. Please encourage your friends to join our Horizons
Club so they can start enjoying all the perks that come with being a member.
We have eight branches to serve your needs. Please stop in and let us tell you
about our new Internet Banking product. You can pay all of your bills as well as check your
account balances from your home computer. We would love to see you. Happy Fall!

Take a step back in history, indulge in tax-free shopping, escape into a world of natural beauty, and enjoy live harness racing at
Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. Delaware is not only our FIRST state, but it is also one of the smallest states in the Union! Her
size will allow us to spend each night at our 4 Star/4 Diamond luxury hotel, the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, while we venture
out each day to explore this state’s rich history and enchanting landscapes. Just 96 miles long and nestled along the Mid Atlantic
seaboard, Delaware is only a two hour drive from one end to the other. Best of all, Delaware is the State of Tax Free Shopping
and our hotel is right next door to one of the state’s largest malls! Our plans include visits to the Victrola Museum, Air Mobility
Command Center, a tour of Nascar’s Monster Mile, a tour of Barratt’s Chapel Museum, the oldest surviving Methodist church
in the United States, Old Newcastle, the first capitol of the First State, a brewery tour and tasting, and the QVC shopping studio
on the outskirts of Wilmington. In addition, we will also spend one evening at the harness races (the track is part of our hotel &
casino)—having dinner and the best view at the track in the Winner’s Circle. We will have a race named in our honor and our
picture will be made with the winning horse! Another fun activity will be a rodeo...just like the ones out West!
Day 1: We’ll begin our tour taking a step back in time...spending our first night at the Woodlands Hotel, a Colonial Williamsburg
property, located next to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor’s Center in Williamsburg, VA. You will have the remainder of the day
to enjoy Colonial Williamsburg with your Colonial Williamsburg Value Pass. This pass will give you the freedom, flexibility and
convenience to enjoy the Colonial Williamsburg experience for their entire length of stay. It will provide access to all daytime
programs, museums, exhibition sites and the Revolutionary City, plus complimentary shuttle transportation. (No meals included.)
Day 2: After breakfast, you will have the morning to continue to explore Colonial Williamsburg, using your Value Pass, before
we continue on to Dover, Delaware. After driving north this afternoon through Washington, DC and into Delaware, we will arrive
in Dover in the late afternoon and check into our 4 Star/4 Diamond resort, the Dover Downs Hotel. Your evening will be free to
enjoy the casino or go shopping (tax free!!) at the nearby mall. The hotel will provide a shuttle to the mall and dinner will be on
your own this evening. (Breakfast included.)
Day 3 and 4: Just 96 miles long and nestled along the Mid Atlantic seaboard, Delaware is only a two hour drive from one end
to the other. We will spend the next 2 days exploring this little state with a local guide, of course, who will make us feel right at
home! Our plans include visits to the Victrola Museum, Air Mobility Command Center, a tour of Nascar’s Monster Mile, a tour of
Barratt’s Chapel Museum, the oldest surviving Methodist church in the United States, Old Newcastle, the first capitol of the First
State, plus a brewery tour and tasting. In addition, we will also spend one evening at the harness races, (the track is part of our
hotel & casino), having dinner and the best view at the track in the Winner’s Circle. We will have a race named in our honor and
our picture will be made with the winning horse!
Day 5: We will begin our journey south, driving a short distance to the Pennsylvania Amish country. On the way we will make a
special stop at the QVC shopping studio on the outskirts of Wilmington. Upon our arrival, we will be met by a tour guide for a
brief driving tour of the Amish farmlands. We will stop at Kitchen Kettle and have dinner in an Amish home. (Dinner included.)
Day 6: We will enjoy reserved seats for Sight & Sound Theatre’s newest production, “Moses,” followed by lunch at the Good and
Plenty Farmhouse. (Breakfast, lunch included.) After lunch, we will continue south, overnighting in Virginia on the way home.
Day 7: It is now time to return to our corner of the Old South...with many pictures and memories of our adventures in
our nation’s ‘First State’!!
Tour inclusions:6 nights’ accommodations, 6 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners. All admissions to events, attractions, etc.
If you are interested in this trip, please contact Tammie at (803) 496-1436 by November 22, 2013.
