Graduation Guide 2016
Graduation Guide
Class of 2016
Dear Parents of the Class of 2016,
Congratulations! Can you believe that you have a senior who is
ready to graduate? With that comes all of the excitement of the
final year of high school, particularly graduation activities.
This Graduation Guide contains all of the official information
about activities related to graduation. We hope it will be helpful
to you as you plan for your family’s participation in these
memorable events from the January Graduation Information
Meeting and Social for parents of seniors to our 113th
Commencement Ceremony on May 22nd. The booklet begins
with a timeline of important dates and deadlines and includes a
table of contents. We have included a checklist to help you
track your planning progress throughout the year as well as a
summary of graduation expenses.
A committee of parents of seniors, chaired by Christine
Camferdam, Buffe Challand and Cat Toomey, is working with
members of the administration to plan and present these
treasured Park Tudor School graduation traditions. I thank them
for their efforts and commend this Graduation Guide to you,
which should prove helpful as your family and friends prepare
for graduation.
We look forward to celebrating these occasions with you.
Yours sincerely,
Sarah Webster
Upper School Director

GRADUATION DAY
Graduation Attire
Girls
In keeping with the Tudor Hall tradition since 1903,
girls wear a floor length all white dress and carry 18
long-stemmed red roses. The dress should be suitable
for an eighteen-year-old girl to wear to a formal
ceremony. It should be of modest and appropriate
design, not low cut in the front or back and preferably
not strapless. While the dress and accessories should
be according to the preferences of each girl and her
family, they should not invite any undue or
inappropriate attention to any specific senior. Metallic
embellishments, cut-outs, excessive lace and sequins
are discouraged.
Shoes should be white, comfortable and easy to walk
in. Girls will be walking down uncarpeted, wooden
steps to receive their diplomas. Shoes without backs or
exceptionally high heels tend to be more difficult to
walk in gracefully and quietly. Tennis shoes or flip
flops are inappropriate.
NOTE: Appointments are recommended at many of
the following shops, especially on the weekends.
Dresses may take up to six months to receive once
ordered and one month for alterations.
