Today, managers or superiors (in general) are under a great pressure to achieve results, develop
subordinates and contribute to organisational success. There are many concepts and principles
available to help them to effectively manage their employees and to bring out the best in them.
Leadership has actually got a lot to do with maximising the human resource. Responsive leadership is a critical factor in organisational success because today’s workplace is characterised by
constantly changing dynamics. To be effective, leaders need to adapt their style to fit a broad
range of business and employee situations. Additionally, leadership must focus on how to revitalise the department or suffer difficult institutional circumstances.

Maria Rufina’s humble career began as a QA Engineer in an electronics factory. By sheer hardwork, she was
promoted to a QA cum Training Manager. In her tenure here, she successfully led her team towards acquiring
the coveted ISO 9002 certification for 2 branches. She also led several QCC teams towards becoming gold
medalists in one of the QCC Conventions held by NPC. Besides, she also assisted in preparing the HQ for the
Prime Minister’s Excellence Award. Her career came to a turning point when she joined a Consultant firm as
the General Manager. This was where she pursued a career as a trainer and consultant at the same time.
A graduate from University Malaya, Maria Rufina holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and MBA in Finance to
her credit. To add to her credibility, she is also often invited to share her views and expertise in the area of
Entrepreneurs Development and Human Capital Development on Astro Channel 4 (Berita Astro) and Channel
6 (Business News).
Maria Rufina is the Chairperson of the Women Entrepreneurs of the KL & Selangor Indian Chamber of
Commerce & Industry and is also one of the advisors for MIWSDF, a Social & Welfare Foundation in Ipoh.
