generosity of the Honor Flight Historic Triangle of Virginia, had the
experience of a lifetime! They were taken on a chartered bus trip to
Washington, DC to visit the World War II & Korean War Memorial built
in their honor. Each of our resident veterans were accompanied by a
volunteer Guardian to help ensure a safe, memorable, and rewarding
experience by providing assistance and support throughout the day. The
chartered buses navigated through the Washington DC streets by police
escort and the veterans were treated like VIP’S. The itinerary also
included visiting the Marine Corps War Memorial and a performance by
the Silent Drill Team and Arlington National Cemetery for the
Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.
Activity Highlights
 Start off your Mondays with a brisk walk! Come join us every Monday for a mile
walk at Pembroke Mall at 9:45am.
 On Tuesday, May 3rd at 3:00pm we have Steve Daley performing live in our living
room, this is one concert you don’t want to miss!
 Don’t miss Elmo Lawrence live on Tuesday, May 10th at 2:00pm in the Living
Room.
 As you know May 4th is Intergalactic Star Wars Day. Residents and staff are all
welcome to dress up! May the “4th” be with you.
 The beginners art class will begin on Monday, May 9th at 3:00pm.
Make sure you sign up!
 ATTENTION ALL LADIES! Like lunch out on the town? Enjoy conversation and
crafts? The Red Hat Party Gals like the same!!! Come & sign up as the Red Hats
take a trip to the Tea Room in Virginia Beach, there you can enjoy some of the
most delicious sandwiches and tea’s. The trip will be on Wednesday, May 18th
@ 12:00pm, the bus will load at 11:30am.
 This month’s armchair travel will take you to the Middle Eastern country of Oman.
Come join us as we read and discuss a trip about a group of seniors called the
Front Porch Travelers and their experience. Discussion will be held in the Living
Room on Wednesday, May 11th at 3:00pm.
 Come see The Echoes perform live in the Terrace Room on Thursday, May 12th at
1:00pm .
 Don’t miss Chuck Moebus, He will be performing live in our Living Room on
Tuesday, May 17th at 2:00pm.
 On Monday, May 23rd at 10:00pm, Heartland will be in to perform a pinning
ceremony thanking our veterans for they’re service.
 The Resident Bingo Auction will be on Tuesday, May 24th at 2:00pm in the
Terrace Room.
 “Winner, winner chicken dinner”! On Wednesday, May 25th at 7:00am we will be
taking a trip to Dover Downs casino located in Delaware. Sign up in the Activity
Room, seating is limited. The bus will be loading at 6:15am.
 Come and join us as the art students of Marian Manor exhibit some of their
greatest renderings. The event will be held on Friday, May 27th at 6:30pm in the
Terrace Room.
 We would like to announce the premiere of “ The Foodie Fix” on Friday, May 27th
at 2:30pm. Come join Ashley & the Activity Department as they prepare some of
your favorite dishes!
 High Tea Social will now be on 1st,2nd , and 3rd Wednesdays every month at
3:00pm in the Living Room.
With summer right around the corner we look for sunshine, blue skies, and warmer weather. Flowers in
full bloom and a freshness in the air. And sometimes…way too much pollen. But we look forward to all
God has for us, and our families this summer.
Let me start by thanking you for being a part of our Bible Study on Monday afternoons, and our
Worship Service on Wednesday Mornings, because we have been having a great crowd at both of these,
with so much discussion and participation as we venture through the Book of James.
What an incredible Book of the Bible that challenges us to truly live what we say we believe, and love
others the way that God loves us.

Wednesday May 25- Service- James 4 (Submit to God)
This is such a challenging study, so if you have never been, please come and check it out…
Let me also remind you about Re-Charge with Rob on Thursday mornings at 10am. We are having a
blast telling jokes and stories about our lives and just enjoying a time of fellowship together. Oh, and we
always have a great snack and coffee…
James 3:17 tells us:
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate; submissive, full
of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”
We could all use just a little more wisdom from God each day so we can truly live out what we say we
believe and treat people the way God desires them to be treated.
