maximum performance of your system. The information provided below describes some of the
benefits and drawbacks of the listed connection types. Use this information to help you identify
which are the best choices for your system.
HDMI™ (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the latest and most advanced digital
connection available. The "all-in-wonder cable", Ultralink's HDMI provides ultra-high definition
video together with multi-channel surround sound in a single digital connection. HDMI connections
have an integrated data channel designed for intelligent communication between HDMI-connected
components. This allows for automatic configuration and optimization of components, as well as facilitating the use of
a single compatible remote to act as a universal remote, controlling all HDMI-connected equipment. HDMI is
backwards compatible with DVI equipped components for video connection. To experience the pinnacle of
high-definition video and surround-sound audio in a single connection use Ultralink HDMI cables wherever HDMI
connections are available.
DVI Digital Video the precursor to HDMI, DVI (Digital Video Interface) is an advanced dedicated
digital video connection. DVI cables transmit ultra-high definition all-digital video signals from source
to display without unnecessary conversion. Where HDMI connections are not available Hook-up your home theatre with

Component Video is the highest quality analog connection available for DVD, satellite and cable
receivers for SDTV (Standard Definition Television), EDTV (Extended Definition Television), and
HDTVs (High-Definition Television). Ultralink Component video connections separate the video signal pathways into
three separate channels (colour, brightness, sync) providing a vividly detailed picture on your analog or digital TVs .
S-Video is widely supported by video source and display components, the S-Video (Super Video)
connection is a popular choice for hooking-up DVD players, satellite receivers and gaming consoles.
Ultralink's S-Video cable provides extremely high picture quality and detail by separating the colour
and brightness channels allowing for isolated transmission of the signals from source to display unit. S-Video
connections are the next best choice of analog video connection when Component Video options are not available.
Composite Video connections combine the colour and brightness channels of the video signal into
one "composite" stream. Although available on all standard video components Composite Video
connections provide the lowest quality connection and should only be used where Component Video and S-Video
connections are not available.
RF Video cables with F-Pin connectors combine video and audio signals into one modulated signal
pathway. The RF video format is the most widely supported type of connection in A/V components,
but should only be used in applications where no other dedicated video and audio connections are
available. F-Pin cables are also used to connect satellite dish and cable service to their set-top receivers. In this application,
Ultralink's F-Pin cables provide the very best connection, minimizing interference and signal loss over long lengths.

he wire and cables throughout your home entertainment systems are as important as any other
component and much more important to the final performance on the screen and out of the
loudspeakers than most. Cables are not accessories or add-ons. Together all the wire and cable in a system make
up the Ultralink Signal Delivery System™ (SDS™). Think of it as the circulatory system in your body, feeding,
providing for, and energizing all the vital organs. Likewise, cables are the most pervasive component in the entire
system connecting every piece of hardware to the next, greatly affecting the performance of each of them

Yet unlike those components, whose job in the system is to actively do something; the cable's job is to do
NOTHING. It should simply get out of the way and let every other component in the system communicate as
perfectly as possible with the others. Yet things like to leave their mark. It is extremely difficult to design and
manufacture cables that actually do nothing. In the context of a complete cable system design, this takes on
supreme importance because only when the SDS™ is completely neutral and invisible in its effect, does it allow
every other component in the system to actually deliver its full performance potential.
Think about the wide range of jobs that we ask a cable to perform while having no effect on

dramatically different than the things that make a good digital video cable.
