Thailand's leading chain of independent hotels, Merlin Hotels & Resorts, has just launched a brand
new look at two out of the three resorts in the Andaman Sea.
After a soft refurbishment completed in September 2013 and lasted 5 months, Khaolak Merlin
(www.merlinphuket/khaolak_merlin/) is now ready to welcome guests in its newly designed 75
deluxe and 21 deluxe pool access rooms.
The 236-room property is one of Khao Lak's leading retreats with a unique rainforest setting,
gently cascading pools and 8 acres of tropical gardens with direct access to 190 metres of soft
sandy beach.
Mrs Nantana Wongsatayanont, Director, comments: “Since the resort's opening in 2003, Khao Lak
has never been so popular with honeymooners and couples. The unspoilt beaches of Phang Nga
are a hit among clients returning to Thailand and wanting to experience this country's mesmerising
natural beauty. With our newly refurbished rooms, we enhance and bring together Thailand's rich
heritage and the modern comforts our clients request. We have rearranged the entire lighting
system, changed the head boards from wood panel to printed laminated glass, installed flat screen
TVs and refreshed the upholstery with new curtains and blinds – the positive reactions of our
repeat guests have been the best feedback”.
40 out of 137 superior rooms, the entry-level category at the resort, were refurbished alongside
the deluxe and deluxe pool access rooms this summer. The remaining superior rooms will receive
the new makeover during the next low season, between May and July 2014.
Khaolak Merlin's sister property, Patong Merlin (www.merlinphuket/patongmerlin/) started its
beautification process in May 2013 and completed the refurbishment of 89 out of 325 superior
rooms in September 2013.
Located in the heart of Patong on the first row of beachfront hotels, the 488-room resort is a true
oasis of peace with lush tropical gardens, 4 freeform pools and easy access to the shopping and
entertainment that have made Patong famous in Asia. The new superior rooms feature a
contemporary look, new curtains and upholstery, flat screen TV and a walk-in shower instead of a
bathtub.
The third property of the Merlin portfolio, Merlin Beach Resort & Spa on Tri Trang Beach is Phuket's
leading family resort, with a vaste range of activities for couples and children alike and spacious
deluxe rooms capable of accommodating up to 2 adults and 2 children.
