mission
Surface covers and exemplifies style. The magazine
showcases untold, unseen, unexamined ideas, people,
images, companies which are now poised to create
our modern world.
Long respected as an early cultural barometer,
Surface offers readers entertaining, sophisticated,
and insightful perspectives on style in its many
manifestations -- design, fashion, architecture,
interiors, industry, art, film, and music. Offering
compelling narratives set with stunning imagery,
Surface has captured the imagination of a select set
of style - and trend leading enthusiasts.
The magazine's voice -- fast-paced, insightful,
tongue-in-cheek -- reports on innovation in its most
inclusive sense with behind-the-scenes drama
involving wealth, family, egos, ambition, rivalries,
obsessions, fetishes... anything that's involved in the
building of stylized culture.
Surface stands as a vibrant counterpoint in a media
landscape saturated with superficial, redundant, cultof-celebrity over-exposure. Surface, instead, takes
readers actually beyond the surface, and into the
substance, of style.
