CARS
821 1962 PORSCHE 356 BT6 CABRIOLET
1600cc engine, Chassis No WP1ZZZ9PZ8LA17443; Engine No 63816006, manual transmission, bodywork by Reutter. Winner in
class, 2009 Porsche 356 Registry Concours D’Etat. Right-hand drive, finished in Bali Blue (Porsche colour 6212) with black Haartz
Fabric Cabriolet, grey leather interior (a standard option with cabriolets in 1962) with black German square weave carpet and
rubber floor mats. Freshly built 1600 engine with Zenith carburettors (less than 1,000km). The engine is fitted with the stronger
912 crank and lighter cam followers. Perhaps the only concession to originality is that the car has been fitted with an additional
oil filter discreetly mounted in the engine compartment to keep the oil cleaner and assist in reducing engine temperatures during
the hot South African days. A ground-up restoration completed from 2006-2009. This restoration included new floorboards,
battery box and door bottoms. All electrics refreshed. All gauges restored. This car is one of several that were shipped to South
Africa in a semi knock-down format. This makes the car unique in that it does not show its build information on the Porsche
Kardex system, and therefore, does not have any factory original colour or option information. None the less, this car has been
finished in an original factory colour combination. Whilst the car was originally fitted with a hard top (as were all the vehicles
shipped in semi knock-down), it has subsequently been replaced with the more desirable factory original cabriolet.

The South African Ballet Theatre
ASSOCIATION INCORPORATED UNDER S21: 2001/016254/08
016-403 NPO
Established in 2001 after the closure of The State Theatre
Ballet in 2000, The South African Ballet Theatre (SABT)
has forged a central niche in the local dance sector and is
the country’s largest professional ballet company. It has
established itself as a major player in the performing arts with
impressive productions of classical ballets, new works by South
African choreographers and collaborators across international
boundaries. International stars such as Mara Galeazzi (Royal
Ballet), Guillaume Côté (National Ballet of Canada) and Maina
Gielgud (English National Ballet) have worked and performed
with SABT. In addition to the professional company, and under
the auspices of SABT, five Outreach Programmes are managed
(in Mamelodi, Alexandra, Soweto, Eersterus and Katlehong)
as well as an extra-curricular Ballet Academy for high school
students and a Graduate (apprenticeship) Programme.
On November 10 2009, The SABT Board, announced that the
SABT, although debt-free, was facing severe financial challenges
and that, if substantial immediate funding was not found,
the Board would have to take robust action to preserve the
integrity of the company. Tonight’s auction is one of several
fundraising initiatives undertaken by the Company to raise the
much needed funds.
SABT wishes to acknowledge Stephen Welz & Co, Mrs Carol
Botha and the Joburg Theatre for its support.
The South African Ballet Theatre is based at The Joburg Theatre,
Braamfontein Johannesburg. The Company’s two state-of-the
art studios and offices overlook the busy CBD.

846 PART LOT
During the years before 1920, Frans Oerder travelled
extensively through Holland before settling in Utrecht.
The typical genre of this period reflected in his works
included rural farm scenes, animals, wagons and the
popular theme of two horses in front of a cart. These
paintings, captured in the impressionist style of the
time, not only show Oerder’s skill in creating pleasant
compositions, but his excellent understanding of farm
life in Holland.
There was also a series of religious works, all painted
in the year 1916, which Oerder produced during the
First World War in order to survive. The works which
are known to have been painted in this time are:
The Ascension, The Three Kings, “Wie Uwer
Zonder Zonden is...”, A Religious Subject and
the painting illustrated above, titled Christ Appears
to the Disciples.
