For twenty-four years, CASA
has played an important role
in the creation and delivery
of programs aimed at children, adolescents, adults and
professionals working in the field.
Research shows that most mental health challenges
present when individuals are young, so it is vital to
nurture good mental health and to identify and treat
these challenges as early as possible. This is where
CASA plays an integral role, and provides a range of
programs and services that work to improve the social
and emotional health of children, to support families
and to build supportive communities.
The new CASA centre is currently under construction,

of Alberta, I would like to
thank CASA Child, Adolescent

Government of Alberta. The new facility is scheduled
to open in September 2016 and will keep CASA at the
forefront in providing safer, more effective and timely
care to the almost 4,000 children a year who pass
through the doors.
Our Government is committed to helping Albertans
who are dealing with addiction and mental health issues.
We will continue to work closely with community partners
to ensure that Albertans and families who are coping
with mental health and substance-use issues have the
support and understanding they need.
The determination and hard work of CASA’s staff and
board of directors helps thousands of Alberta’s children
and their families deal with mental health challenges
in a positive, supportive and healing way. I look forward
to continuing the partnership with CASA.

“Mental health services for children and their families.”
You may recall that CASA was founded on the belief
that there was a strong need for the provision of
community based mental health services for children
and adolescents and support for their families. I am
pleased to report that the work continues with the same
principles in mind. We are proud to be able to say that
our programs continue to provide excellent results.
We are also excited that construction has started on our
new CASA Centre which I am pleased to report is on
schedule for occupancy in August 2016. We are grateful
for the generous grant from the Government of Alberta
to fund the base building, as well as the cooperation of
Alberta Infrastructure during the construction project.
We look forward to working with the CASA Foundation
and its Campaign Chair, George Cantalini, in its fund
raising campaign to raise the remaining amounts to fit,
furnish and fixture the building.
We also wish to thank Alberta Health, Alberta Health
Services, Alberta Human Services and other funding
agencies for their financial support for our programs
over the past year.
It has been a pleasure working on the CASA Board
and for that I thank my fellow directors. I also wish to
acknowledge the huge contribution made by our Chief
Executive Officer, Denise Milne.
