BEACH SAFETY
Enjoy Noosa’s beautiful beaches safely - swim between the flags on patrolled
beaches and follow the instructions and advice of the surf lifesavers on duty.
Red and yellow flags are used to indicate the safest patrolled swimming area.
SUN SAFETY
The Australian sun can be harmful – always cover up and protect yourself against
UV rays. Surf lifesavers on the beach always have a ready supply of sunscreen if
needed.
CLOTHING
In keeping with the relaxed Noosa lifestyle, smart casual clothing is standard.
A jacket or jumper may be required during winter, especially in the evenings.

Australian Eastern Standard Time GMT plus 10 hours. Daylight saving is not
observed in Queensland.

The currency throughout Australia is the Australian dollar (AUD). Banks offer
Bureau de Change facilities.
TIPPING & GRATUITIES
Not required or expected in Australia. Gratuities are welcome after a particularly
enjoyable meal or for exemplary service.
PASSPORTS AND VISAS
All international visitors require a valid passport. All travellers to Australia, other
than Australian and New Zealand citizens, are required to obtain a visa to travel
to Australia.
The ‘Visitor Visa’ allows people travelling for tourism purposes, visiting friends
and family, business visitors or for People’s Republic of China on a registered
tour to stay in Australia for a period of up to three, six or twelve months. For
short term holiday visits, an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) visa allows visitors
to stay up to three months on each visit in one year.
Work/holiday visas are also available for youth travellers from eligible countries
aged between 18 and 30 years of age for up to one year.

TAXES IN AUSTRALIA
A Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10% is included in the price of all goods and
services sold in Australia, with the exception of some basic items. You can take
advantage of the Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) that lets you claim a refund
of the GST and Wine Equalisation Tax (WET) that you pay on certain goods
you buy in Australia and then take out of Australia with you or in your checked
luggage or carry-on bags.

Public hospitals are located at Caloundra and Nambour. Private hospitals are
located at Caloundra, Buderim, Noosa and Nambour. 24 hour medical centres are
located throughout Noosa and the Sunshine Coast and many hotels and resorts

Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY)
Sunshine Coast Airport offers direct multiple daily flights from Sydney and Melbourne with
airline partners Jetstar and Virgin Australia, with connecting services from all major Australian
capital cities. Seasonal Auckland-Sunshine Coast (AKL-MCY) direct flights with Air New Zealand flying nonstop to Sunshine Coast Airport run from 26 June – 25 October 2015 and 13 December 2015 –
28 February 2016 (Tuesday, Friday & Sunday) with direct connections through to international
destinations.
Noosa is a convenient 30 minute drive north of Sunshine Coast Airport which provides a range
of ground transport options including rental cars, taxis, bus transfers, public buses, limousine

Self drive to Noosa is an easy 1.5 hours drive north of Brisbane along the Bruce Highway.
Remember to keep left - your clients must remember that traffic travels on the left-hand side
of the road.
All of the major car hire companies operate to and from the Sunshine Coast.
Greyhound Australia operates an extensive bus network around Australia, with Noosa a
