Shauky Gulamani has embraced the professional hairdressing industry with a passion, talent
and creative genius that transformed him into a master of his craft. Although his journey began
32 years ago, today he is acclaimed for building multi-million dollar professional companies. His
experience and ability to create thriving, groundbreaking brands comes from his artistry as a
hairdresser, salon owner, teacher, educator, sales representative, and distributor.
From District Sales Manager to National Sales Manager positions,
it wasn’t long before the company discovered his creative genius and Gulamani went from
Director of Sales and Marketing to President in a year’s time.
Recognized as a Marketing Guru, Gulamani
is responsible for increasing yearly profit margins by
over 50% with these outstanding growth patterns
being attributed to his successful up-to-the-minute
marketing concepts, new packaging, simplification
of existing product lines, and the creation of multiple
revolutionary product launches. Gulamani brings
companies to the forefront of the beauty industry
using his keen insight into the future needs and trends.
Gulamani’s career spanned over England, Canada and the United States. He traveled around the world studying
fashion and hair trends that inspired him to create his own iconic hair collections that graced the pages of top trade
and consumer magazines. Gulamani has styled many celebrities and was instrumental in creating hairstyles for renowned
pageants, high fashion runways, and movies and television sets. His work has been seen in over 130 countries.
Gulamani began as a successful salon owner, but with a true passion for teaching, he entered the world of education
with a major company. This became his stepping stone into the world of artistry and served many years as a top platform
artist for several leading manufacturers. Sharing his knowledge and expertise, and with the ability to understand the needs
and wants of stylists and salon owners; he transformed into the next facet of his hairstyling career: Sales.
In 2011, Gulamani joined as a shareholder with FHI
Heat where he immediately initiated new product
development and advanced the R&D, marketing,
sales and education force. He spearheaded a series
of improvements to all of the tools, redesigned the
packaging to be consistent and stand out, created a
supporting liquid line and expanded the professional
FHI Heat brand globally. Today, under Gulamani’s
direction, FHI Heat has been transformed into an
industry leader, defining new product categories
through technology and innovation.

How long have you been involved in
hairdressing?
I’ve had a passion for hairdressing for 32
years. You always have to have passion to be
successful!
How old were you when you realized
this was your calling?
Hairdressing is in my blood! All of my
mother’s siblings, three aunts and one
uncle, were hairdressers so I’ve been
surrounded by it all my life.
What is your strongest skillset
behind the chair?
I love cutting and coloring, but the art
of hair-dressing is what I enjoy and
where I can really show my skills.
Name your must-have tool or
product behind the chair and why?
A comb and shears are the foundation for
any hairdresser. You’re never out of a job as
long as you have a comb and shears.
Which classic hairstyles are
most relevant today?
The Farrah Fawcett, the Marlo Thomas,
and the Jackie O. These were all beautiful,
timeless styles that have transitioned well
into current trends. But the mullet...that
should NEVER come back!

What do you think will be the iconic
hairstyle of 2010’s?
We’re still in the first half of the decade, but
I see beach waves and textures making a
statement. It will be exciting to see what it
turns into.
What has been the most memorable
moment in your career?
The day I graduated from cosmetology
school, it all started from there.
What advice would you give a new hairdresser who has
just graduated?
Never stop learning, challenge and invest in yourself.
What is your favorite color?
I’m a hairdresser, of course it’s black!

I used the FHI dryer on Kat Dennings on
“Two Broke Girls.” The dryer with the diffuser
is great for her curly styles. For a different
look I use the FHI dryer to straighten her hair
and the results I get are simply silky. I glide
a brush through her hair and it strightens all
the frizz out of the hair. Also, the dryer dries
the hair so smooth that I can glide my FHI flat
iron through the hair in a matter of minutes to
complete styling.
