DIFFERENTIATORS OF THE CHAMBER ALLIANCE
As you probably know, “If you’ve seen one
Chamber, you’ve seen one Chamber, as there
are no two Chambers alike.” It comes down
to personal preference – location, business
climate and leadership of the organization.
But one factor cuts to the bottom line –
VALUE, a member’s return on their Chamber
of Commerce investment.
With so many business organizations for
professionals to participate in today, and
at the surface, all looking about the same, which one or more are
best suited for you and your organization? The West Chester Liberty
Chamber Alliance uses the term “differentiator” to help showcase
the value of our organization. A differentiator is a unique feature
or benefit of a product or aspects of a brand that set it apart from
competing products or brands. It is also known as the unique value
proposition (UVP). The following is a sampling of what our Chamber
members have said are the differentiator’s of The Chamber Alliance.
•
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
STAFF STABILITY – Our Chamber has four members of our
team with over 10 years Chamber experience, and another
two with over five years to serve our members business
needs.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE – in total our nine member team
has over 80 years’ experience in working with businesses in
West Chester and Liberty Townships and on the I-75 Growth
Corridor.
LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION – strategically located
along one of the heaviest traveled interstate systems in
the U. S. I-75, and between two major markets – Cincinnati
and Dayton, The Chamber Alliance is connected locally and
throughout our region to help keep you in the know.
ONE-ON-ONE DISCUSSIONS WITH THE CEO – “Java with Joe”
is an opportunity for one-on-one discussion, sharing of ideas
and developing a strategy with our members, focusing on
getting the most from their Chamber membership.
CLOSE TO 100 EVENTS HELD IN 2015 – we are a vibrant
organization that is very active. We present various events
all geared toward enhancing commerce for you, our Chamber
Members and the business region.
VERY TRANSIENT AREA; NEW MEMBERS DAILY – the
interest in West Chester and Liberty Townships continues
to be on the rise and The Chamber Alliance benefits by
welcoming new, diverse members daily.
PROVIDE FORUMS FROM COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP TO YP
AND FROM WOMEN’S ISSUES TO CONTINUOUS EDUCATION
– we recognize the needs of our members, and present
programs that deliver substance and content that address
timely community and regional issues.
SMALL BUSINESS ADVOCATE – for over eleven years, we
have been the home for SCORE’s Branch office, servicing
their Cincinnati and Dayton Chapters. As the nation’s largest
network of expert business mentors, SCORE provides both
one-on-one and group counseling.
9.
10.
11.
12.
13.
14.
GOVERNMENT RELATIONS – by continuing to nurture and
support strategic relationships, our partners, George Glover
and Nan Cahall of Focused Capitol Solutions are liaisons to
both our business members and our local, county and state
government officials.
MAKE CONNECTIONS TO HELP GROW BUSINESSES – there
are Chamber members in specific industries that are best
suited for your organization to meet. We provide various
Chamber activities to help you make those connections.
SEVERAL KEY EDUCATION PARTNERS – strategic
partnerships with leading educators and workforce
development drivers; Lakota Schools, Butler Tech and
Cincinnati State.
AN INFLUENCIAL BUSINESS ORGANIZATION – we’ve
been ranked as one of top 100 most influential business
organizations in Greater Cincinnati, ten years in a row.
EDUCATE AND INFORM – The most current resource for
what’s happening in West Chester and Liberty Townships
through The Voice, www.thechamberalliance.com,
ChamberMail, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
YOUR REGIONAL PARTNER – The Chamber Alliance is a
leader in the regional collaboration, producing signature
events; Regional Business Expo, The Everest Award and
Women of Excellence. We are also active leaders in the
Butler Warren Business Day in Columbus, Tri-State Chamber
Collaborative and Think Regional! Summit.
So what are those unique features that set your organization apart
from your competition and provide value to your client? Here are a
couple of tips that might help your organization stand out from the
rest:
Partnerships – Partnerships alone won’t make your business
successful, but a “strategic” partnership allows your organization to
expose your brand to people who might not even hear about it if not
for your partner. Partnerships work best when all parties involved
benefit.
Make sure the differentiating quality is something people want –
Having a differentiating feature alone is not enough. It has to be
something customers want. Many businesses have not been as
successful because they build something for their own needs and not
necessarily what is needed by their customer.
Focus – As you focus on one thing, you’re working on your unique
business, becoming an expert at what you do best to become the
best. You need to make sure your team is on board and get input and
feedback from your customers along the way.
Knowing what makes an organization different from the competition
and what is done with that knowledge can make or break a business.
No business can survive by selling price alone. Remember, price is
what you pay, VALUE is what you get. Please let us know if we can
help you develop your differentiators.
Thank you for being a valued member of
the West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance. Together we grow your business!

PEOPLE AND NEWS
AlphaGraphics Cincinnati Scores with MLB
AlphaGraphics® Inc.,
a global network
of independently
owned and operated
business centers, is
proud to announce
that AlphaGraphics
Cincinnati has
been recognized
by Major League
Baseball (MLB) and
the Cincinnati Reds
as the 2016 Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner (MVDBP)
award.
“We truly enjoy our business relationship with the MLB,” said
Cinda Morse, owner of AlphaGraphics Cincinnati. “We have
had the honor of assisting the Reds with printing and signage
for many years, including several large projects for last year’s
All Star Game. We are tremendously proud of receiving this
recognition.”
Major League Baseball has been at the forefront of professional
sports in recognizing the importance of diversity. In 1998,
the club introduced the Diverse Business Partner Program to
cultivate new and existing partnerships with minority-owned
and woman-owned businesses by increasing opportunities for
minorities and women to participate in procurement activities of
Major League Baseball.
Kingsgate Transportation named Official
Logistics Partner of the Cincinnati Reds
through 2017
Kingsgate
Transportation
Services and the
Cincinnati Reds have
announced a multiyear partnership that
establishes Kingsgate Transportation as the official logistics
partner of the Reds.
"Kingsgate has been looking for a unique opportunity to raise
awareness and promote our brand,” said Jeff Beckham, Partner
at Kingsgate Transportation. “We want to make a connection
to the same fans the Reds are marketing to. This partnership
is also a tribute to our loyal clients who have given us 30 years
of their trust and enjoyed Reds games with us throughout the
seasons.”
“With this partnership, we hope to make connections with
fans and businesses all across Reds country and our shared
goal of providing our customers the very best experience is the
cornerstone of both organizations,” said Beckham.
Key elements of the partnership include promotions, signage,
game tickets and hospitality at Great American Ball Park,
advertising on Reds radio broadcasts and sponsorship of the
September 3rd bobblehead featuring Reds infielder Eugenio
Suarez.
New chief operating officer at Atrium Medical Center
As the new chief operating officer for Premier
Health’s Atrium Medical Center, Michael Uhl now
serves in a leadership position for the same
organization where he began his nursing career.
Michael joined Atrium Medical Center earlier this
year as chief operating officer, which is part of the
Middletown hospital’s executive leadership team.
In this role, he oversees day-to-day operations of
the city’s second largest employer. The full-service hospital and Level
III Trauma Center employs more than 1,500 people in full-time, parttime and on-call positions.
“Mike is a valued addition to the Atrium team who brings a unique
understanding of both hospital operations and experience as a
Registered Nurse to help lead Atrium in a changing health care
landscape, in which consumers have more choices for their health
care,” said Carol Turner, president and chief executive officer of
Atrium Medical Center.
“I found this to be an exciting opportunity because it returned me to
my roots, but also because of where Atrium Medical Center is located
in the market, along the growing Cincinnati-Dayton corridor, allows for
ample strategic opportunities for the hospital,” Michael said.

JUNE BREAKFAST RECAP
It was an exciting day for the West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance: their first event held at the Centre
Park of West Chester Event & Banquet Center, the first breakfast of the season, and beautiful weather all
added up to a great morning.
Ian Murray of SpotOn Productions has been an active part of the West Chester ▪ Liberty Chamber Alliance
community for years and this month he brought his expertise to the table as the speaker with a presentation
about videos. More specifically, he discussed why businesses need to use video for promotion. For obvious
reasons, the presentation itself was full of videos, as well as catching graphics and tons of information.
(I would include a video here, but we have to wait for technology to catch up.)
Some of the key statistics that Ian highlighted:
•
59% of senior executives prefer video to text
•
A one minute video is worth 1.6 million words!
•
Video uses over half of your brain power to process
•
65% of viewers who begin watching a video will watch at least 2/3 of it
•
Video doubles the amount of time an individual spends on a website
•
90% of all information transmitted to the brain is visual
•
Visual information is processed 60,000 times faster than text
Keynote Speaker – Ian Murray, SpotOn Productions
Emcee – Joanne Westwood, Westwood Virtual Associates
Ian went on to explain that there are three sections to the human brain: The lizard brain, the mammal brain,
and the cerebral cortex. The lizard brain is responsible for instinct, the mammal brain is emotions, and the
cerebral cortex, which is unique to humans, is responsible for critical thinking, logic, and creativity.
When an individual processes text, they must use the cerebral cortex to filter the information, while visual
information goes directly through the mammal brain, bypassing the time-consuming cerebral cortex.
In addition, video transfers more information than just images, using tone of voice, body language, and facial
expressions to help convey meaning.
To help businesses or individuals that wish to incorporate video, Ian went over the four types:
1.
Company video
a. Sells value
b. Best on landing page
2.
Customer testimonials
a. Most powerful
b. Influence purchasing decisions
c. Reinforce value
d. Best on product pages and social networking sites
3.
Product demonstration
a. Increases engagement
b. Influences purchase
c. Best on product page or customer information
4.
Brand Awareness
a. Engaging and intriguing
b. Increases investment in ongoing development
c. Best for sharing externally and the landing page
Finally, for those in attendance that may already be using video, Ian discussed six ways to use video on
social media: greet visitors on Facebook; expand video shares on Facebook to other sites; attract YouTube
subscribers with a video trailer; stand out on social media with video posts; reach Vine and Instagram users
with a short video; and enhance blog post with embedded videos.

Sponsor – UC Health – West Chester Hospital

Ian also talked a bit about his drone used for video visuals and the new legislation surrounding personal
and commercial drone usage.
The most intriguing aspect of Ian’s presentation was the opportunity to see on the inside of the day-to-day
of SpotOn Productions, who have provided a wide array of visual support to the West Chester ▪ Liberty
Chamber Alliance over the years.

JULY LUNCHEON RECAP
In the midst of today’s chaotic media coverage – in which the cold, hard truth is hardly recognizable – there’s a place right
here in West Chester that stands for truth in journalism. During one of the darkest and most unrestful times in our history,
believe it or not, our own West Chester was the beacon of hope and truthfulness all over the world.
It’s one of our community’s best kept secrets and it’s nestled in a building off Tylersville Road that nearly anyone in our
community knows and recognizes. But very few know the historical significance it really represents.
At the July 12 Chamber breakfast, keynote speaker Melinda Zemper shed some light on the National Voice of America
Museum of Broadcasting, for which she serves as a board member. She spoke with unimaginable passion and knowledge for
the pivotal role it played in shouting the truth during a time otherwise defined by misinformation.
“Tell the truth and let the world decide.” Those were the opening words of Melinda’s presentation – and the premise by which
the former VOA-Bethany Station was established back in 1944. President Franklin Roosevelt ordered a response to fight the
sophisticated Japanese and Nazi Germany propaganda machines of that time. Under the leadership of Cincinnati’s Powel
Crosley, who owned WLW at the time, it came online as the world’s largest and loudest transmitter of American war news to
Nazi Europe.
Keynote Speaker – Melinda Zemper, Board of Directors,
National Voice of America Museum of Broadcasting
To all its competing sound waves of that time, its reach was the farthest, and oftentimes the loudest, perhaps because its
differentiator was the truth.
The VOA operated on the premise that citizens in any country—free or oppressed—will make the right decisions for their selfdetermination if they are given all the facts.
“The story of the VOA-Bethany Station is a story of cutting-edge scientific knowledge and innovation similar to what we see in
Silicon Valley today,” Melinda said. “It tells the story of the role that shortwave radio played during World War II and the Cold
War to tell the truth, and inspire people in war-torn and oppressed countries to hope, to dream and work toward democracy.”
Melinda spoke of the Voice’s early directors, who fought against the president’s original vision for yet another propaganda
machine. “They felt the truth was a more persuasive marketing tool to inform our American troops abroad and win over our
foes,” Melinda said. She spoke of the hundreds of visitors from around the world who visit the museum today, sharing stories
about listening to the Voice in secret because they would have been shot if they were caught listening. She shared audio clips
from visitors whose voices expressed awe and memories of pure liberation in listening to the Voice.
Emcee – Britt Scearce, Emery Federal Credit Union
According to Melinda, the VOA today is still broadcast out of Washington, D.C. to oppressed and conflict countries that lack
a free press. Its TV broadcasts are transmitted around the world via satellite and are available on television, computer, cell
phones and other devices. The Voice is broadcast in 40 languages and reaches about 180 million listeners and viewers each
week.
And so today, more than 70 years later, the VOA museum holds a huge amount of historical paraphernalia about shortwave
radio and Cincinnati’s radio and TV broadcast history, and, according to Melinda, a tremendous potential to educate the
public on the importance of a free press to support democracy in a civil society. But that requires a force larger than just a
few people. It requires the sentimental (and monetary) support of our whole community.
To get involved and share your ideas, contact VOA Museum Director Jack Dominic at (513) 777-0027 or visit www.voamuseum.org.

Leadership 21 Class of 2016
Selects “Got Your Back” Backpack Fundraiser as Class Project
The West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance Leadership 21 Class of 2016
has announced their class project “Got Your Back” backpack fundraiser.
The class goal is to collect donations for the purchase of three hundred
new, high quality backpacks for half the retail cost. The backpacks will
then be distributed by the Boys & Girls Club of West Chester/Liberty
before classes start August 16. Donations can be made online at www.
chamberalliance.com/leadership-21, or mailed to the West Chester
Liberty Chamber Alliance, 8922 Beckett Road, West Chester. Donations
of any amount are accepted. A donation of $150.00 will purchase new
backpacks for five local children.
Sixty-four percent of Boys & Girls Club youth
receive free or reduced lunch and struggle
with basic necessities. The Leadership 21
class of 2016 has decided to focus on these
children to help lighten their load, with new
backpacks that they will be proud to wear.
Connecting People & Possibilities Brunch 2 Business
The West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance focuses on
“Connecting People & Possibilities” in a variety of ways.
This year, Chamber members had the opportunity to
“Connect” with the help of Brunch
2 Business, in conjunction with
HOMEARAMA 2016.
Thank you to our Sponsors!

Spotlight On KPG Creative
When ConnXus, a leader in the supplier diversity field,
wanted to step out of the noise in the crowded supplier
diversity space and transform the conversation, they
turned to KPG Creative to formalize a strategy to get
them heard. A consummate Business Communication
Company, KPG, worked with ConnXus to develop an
integrated digital marketing, online branding and social
campaigning strategy that is transforming the national
conversation from one of supplier diversity to supplier
inclusion.
When Ameritas Life
Insurance, a 20year client of the
company, wanted to
re-invent their annual
Leader’s Conference to appeal to a changing and
younger demographic, they turned to KPG Creative to
brainstorm and design the new experience. “Convozones” replaced many of the main stage presentations
and new compelling video stories were created to honor
achievements and drive messaging. The conference
received the highest marks in years from the attendees
and the company is enjoying a renewed excitement from
the field force in the wake of the conference.
By harnessing the power of video and audio, the impact
of live events, and leveraging the ubiquity of the web,
KPG Creative uses its mastery and love of expressive
and persuasive storytelling to help businesses make
connections that improve sales, enhance brand
awareness and energize teams. KPG Creative helps
clients connect their message to their intended audience
to elicit the client’s desired outcome. Connection
made…
KPG Creative was founded in 2002 out of a desire to
focus on great storytelling and creating memorable
experiences. Since its inception in the dining room of
Founder and Executive Producer Bob Kelly, KPG Creative
has grown into a full service business communications
company that works with businesses of all sizes; from

smaller local organizations to international Fortune 100
firms. Their long history of creative collaboration with
clients across the country and around the world includes
Panasonic, Ameritas, Modern Ice, Toyota, Intelligrated,
P&G, Certified Angus Beef, Cincinnati Business Courier,
and the city of Mason just to name a few. What began
nearly 15 years ago has grown to a core team of ten
full-time professionals with a diverse mix of knowledge,
skills and abilities who produce hundreds of strategic
communication projects annually, helping their clients to
bring ideas to life on stage and on screen.
“Do good things and the right things will
happen,” and “Be generous with what you
know,” are the two most important and
influential tenets of the values underpinning
the KPG company culture, attitude and work ethic.
Some of their most important client relationships and
their recent positive growth are directly related to their
community-oriented outreach.
KPG Creative also takes a very active role in numerous
community organizations. Such involvement is openly
encouraged as a piece of its company culture and “pay-itforward” philosophy.
KPG Creative believes everyone has a story to tell…
and if you aren’t telling it, somebody else is. The most
important thing any company has is its company brand
and that brand is so much more than your logo. It is
the story that is told, the feelings that are elicited and
the emotional response people get when they think
of your Business. Something that precious – that
essential – requires real craftsmanship and stewardship.
KPG Creative helps clients make that connection. For
additional information, call 513.701.6450 or drop them a
