Working out of Coolaroo on the outskirts of Melbourne, Ken Nizam and his
dedicated team produce a range of caravans for the Australian market. Operating for over 21 years, Roadstar employs

The Daintree is one model in the
exclusive line up that also includes the
Limited Edition and the Safari Tamer. It
offers a high level of fit and finish that
will ensure the whole family can travel
the country in comfort. A key element
of the Daintree is its flexibility – it is
available in single-axle or dual-axle
specification and with numerous layouts
that cater to single travellers or families
alike. The model of this review, the
triple bunk family edition, caters for
larger families that are looking for the
luxuries of a fully optioned caravan
while still having enough room for everyone to have their own space.

The Daintree can be optioned with a
6in A-frame extension that lifts the
van further and provides additional
clearance, should the tar turn to dirt.
To accommodate the bunk beds,
Roadstar has created two separate wet
areas – one houses the shower and the
other is home to the toilet. Not only
does this save space and allow for the
bunk beds, but it also means that both
facilities can be in use at once.
The master bed provides plenty of
room and includes an inner spring
mattress. The cabinetry around the
bed head makes effective use of the
available space and provides a suitable
storage area for clothes and other travel
items, while reading lights are mounted
on the inner walls of the cabinets and
there are numerous windows in place
to ensure plenty of natural light. When
you’ve had enough light, venetian
blinds help to keep things covered.
The triple-bunk model is a perfect
travelling solution for families. There
is enough room for the parents to
have their own bed while the kids
get the triple bunks. The timber
cabinetry continues from the kitchen
throughout, and a washing machine
mounts neatly at the base of a
cupboard, ready to take on the kids’
clothes after a day in the dirt.

The kitchenette provides everything you need to prepare meals that will keep the
whole family happy. A microwave and cook top mean it won’t take too long either. A
stainless steel sink is standard as is a mixer tap and drinking water filter tap, for fast
and easy access to water.
The internals of the caravan are well appointed. The timber finish creates a warm feel
and the overhead cupboards are secured at an angle to create maximum storage space.
The L-shape dining area provides extra space for the kids and the television is sure to
keep them entertained. The television picks up a clear signal via a Wineguard antenna.
The Dometic fridge is built into the
cabinetry and offers enough room to
store food for even the biggest families. Separate compartments keep
the fridge and freezer areas separate
and large drawers above and below
are suitable for storing bulky items
such as pots and pans.

The undercarriage of the Daintree presents neatly. Seven-leaf springs are strong
enough to take the load of the van with ease and the plumbing and wiring is well
placed, neat and out of the way. The water tank mounts centrally for effective
weight distribution and is galvanised to prevent rust or damage.
The front boot of the van has plenty
of room to store games and body
boards for the kids. The battery
mounts in a watertight storage box
and a fuse box is mounted on the internal rear wall. The boot is lined with
galvanised plate which helps keep
your gear secure and dual gas bottles
mount on the A-frame at the front.

LAYOUT KEY
The slide out external kitchen comes
standard on the triple bunk model. This
is a practical way to keep the family fed
while enjoying the great outdoors. It is
constructed from heavy duty stainless
steel and includes a sink and grill ready
for those hot summer nights. An external tap on the A-frame also helps if you
need fast access to water while cooking.
