We are doing fine
It feels incredibly nice to know that despite
financial crisis and recession we can show a
record in our turn over for the accounting year
2009/2010. We have had an increased acceptance for our OilQuick products and we aim for
a double amount of sales within 3 years.
It is an exciting challenge.
The tiltrotator has changed the view on digging.
When we introduced Grab John multi purpose
buckets almost thirty years ago on the swedish
market, there was a lot of noise because it was
a bit heavier than a standard digging bucket
(The grabbing function added weight). If you
used an Åkerman H12, this made you decrease
your bucket volume from 1000 L to 950 L in order to meet the safety requirements for bucket
tipping from the swedish machinery testing
institute. A volume decrease of 50 L, which had
an insignificant impact in the practical sense of
digging.
The next objection was that our GJ buckets,
which with its grabbing function added
about a decimeter in size compared to a
conventional digging bucket, reduced the
buckets breakout force with 3% (calculated
on a 22-ton machine).
In the beginning of the 80’s there were
strong opinions about how insane this was.
We totally destroyed the machine’s digging
properties and capacity, it was said. With
this in mind it is fascinating today to see how
it is totally accepted to use tiltrotators wih
an added weight of 500-600 kg and an
added height of half a meter. Times change
attitude and opinions, that’s for sure. The
tiltrotator is a superb tool for the right types
of tasks, but for tough rock excavation or
loading a truck or dumper it is time to attach
a big digging bucket and go for it.
To use the right tool for the right job is
important and OilQuick can help.
A few of the leading contractors such as
Demcon has decided to convert their coupler
systems to OilQuick. The industry has started
to see an uprise in machine sales and that
means that our sales of systems for wheel
loaders and fork lift trucks has regained well.
In october of this year, AF Decom ordered
11 excavators in the weight class of 30-50
tons, all equipped with OQ 80 and OQ 90.

The market
Germany, Austria and Switzerland
The whole contracting machine industry had
a tough year 2009 and the german market
wasn’t an exception. During this year though,
our OilQuick sales have come back strong and
shows record in sales. During 2010 we will
sell more than 1000 OilQuick systems on the
german speaking market including Germany,
Austria and Switzerland. The worlds biggest
CAT-dealer, Zeppelin has chosen OilQuick for
their rental machines and are no offering their
customers excavators and hydraulic tools with
fully automatic quick coupler systems.
This is a big acknowledgement for OilQuick and
a reference as heavy as lead.
Sweden
During this year we have moved our positions forward heavily and established OilQuick
tiltrotator as a very exciting alternative to other
tiltrotators. OilQuick has also claimed its position as the future quick coupler solution for
demolition machines.
Norway
The norwegian market is along with our german speaking countries the best market for
export at the moment.
Norways three largest and leading demolition companies AF Decom, PeWe Entreprenør and Dokken have all made big investments in OilQuick systems. These three
companies combined have more than fifty
excavators equipped with OilQuick.
Other countries
Japan, England, Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Italy and Australia are all
markets where we are now breaking new
ground. In Australia we have among other
things sold a OQ 120 system to an 85-ton
Hitachi-machine, which will switch between an Erkat ground cutter, a Montabert
hydraulic hammer and a normal digging
bucket.

Robert Viklund has had his OilQuick OQ 70 since
last summer and has already discovered great
advantages.
- This is something i should have bought a lot
earlier, says Robert.
After the vacation this year, Robert had a quick
coupler type OQ 70 installed on his CAT 323 DL.
At the same time he bought a new OilQuick tiltrotator OQTR 60B with OilQuick function.
The hammer was provided with an OQ 70
adapter plate.
- Earlier I used to avoid detaching the tiltrotator
even though i realized that i should change to
a bucket, hammer or ripper. It was too tedious
to change tools and I guess we are a bit lazy by
nature, says Robert.
Most of the time you just need to remove a stone
or something before you are using the tiltrotator
again.
Now you can stay in the machine and always have
the the right tool for the job since you no longer
have to worry about the tool changes.
It’s nice and comfortable for me as a driver and
also for my customer since i can do a better and
more efficient job.
-Another big advantage with OilQuick is that I
improve my working environment by not having
to expose myself on a daily basis to hydraulic oil.
Having to jump in and out of the drivers cab to
change greasy hydraulic hoses is not a thing that i
miss, Robert points out.
Already after this short period of time I can say
that when the times come to buy a new machine
it is unthinkable not to equip it with OilQuick. I
am impressed by the build quality.
In your opinion, what are the three biggest
advantages with the OilQuick quick coupler
system?
1. It’s easy and fast to change between hydraulic
tools.

Bauma, Munich april 19-25
Maskinexpo, Barkarby may 19-21
Bauma is the world’s largest trade fair for construction machinery
and is held every third year in Munich. This year the trade fair was
visited by 415000 persons, which was 17% less than last time.
The big reason was the volcanic ashes from island that paralyzed
the air traffic and therefore kept visitors from asia, north america
and even scandinavia to be present. OilQuick made the biggest
marketing investment ever here. With an own booth of over 400
sqm and OilQuick products on display in an additional 18 booths
we were verywell represented. Companies such as CAT, Volvo, Kiesel/Hitachi displayed our products in their booths. Aside from the
loss of scandinavian visitors we are very satisfied with the trade
fair, Says sales and marketing director Henrik Sonerud.
Over 27000 persons visited the trade fair. Opposed to BAUMA,
the visitors were mainly Swedes. OilQuick showed the complete
product range of quick couplers and tiltrotators here. As usual
the quick coupler system OQ 80 was demonstrated on a CATexcavator. We introduced our new OilQuick control system OQCS,
which is the futures control system for contracting machines. We
are very satisfied with the trade fair. There were lots of visitors,
we made new contacts and even closed some deals. During next
trade fair in may 2011 we have the ambition to show even more
of our wide OilQuick product range.
Hillhead, England june 22-24
Our english dealer Haulmark demonstrated the OilQuick system
live for the first time on an english trade fair for contracting
machines. The english market is still very “low” and is predicted
to continue that way for 1-2 more years. An infected and in many
cases irrelevant debate regarding safety with hydraulic quick couplers in England makes the market a bit problematic.
Demcon, Upplands-Väsby sept. 9-10
Takasaki, Japan october 2-4
Demcon is a special trade fair for the demolition and recycling
industry. OilQuick had an indoor booth here and displayed an OQ
90 quick coupler for excavators between 40-70 tons. In an outdoor
booth, Tomas Wadsted displayed his excavator equipped with a
complete OilQuick product range. At the same time as Demcon,
EDA, European Demolition Association held its autumn meeting with demolition contractors from most european countries.
OilQuick was together with Komatsu the main sponsors and
even had the opportunity to hold a speech for 20 minutes about
rational demolition by using fully automatic quick coupler systems.
In cooperation with our japanese representative, CAT demonstrated two OilQuick quick coupler systems, OQ 45 and OQ 60 installed
on 8 ton excavators. The trade fair was concentrated towards
forestry and demonstrated was changes between felling head,
timber grab and a normal digging bucket. The visitors were knowledgable professionals, which showed big interest in european
quick coupler systems technique. We believe in good possibilities
to enter the japanese market in the future.
Scandinavias biggest demolition is taking
place in Trondheim as St. Olavs hospital is to
be leveled with the ground.
St. Olavs hospital is 36 meters high, 48000
sqm wide and all in all there is going to be
55 tons of demolition waste, which is to be
handled, processed and taken care of. The
project is worth almost 54 million norwegian
crowns for the demolition contractors PeWe
Entreprenør and Dokken AS who have been
chosen to carry out the job. 80-90 persons
are working daily with the demolition in several excavators, all equipped with OilQuick
quick coupler systems.

Norways biggest demolition machine,
the 100-ton CAT 385CUHD arrived to the
jobsite in Trondheim in june. This monstruous machine with a long reach boom and
OilQuick OQ 80 will carry out big parts of the
job , mainly the demolition in the highest
areas.

have a total of 22 excavators och about
50-60 tools that are equipped with OilQuick
quick coupler systems. Quick and many tool
changes between shears, crushers, hammers,

Ole Siem at OTS Trading AS, our norwegian dealer who has delievered all
the OilQuick equipment the the both
contracting companies, satisfactory
establishes that he feels very proud to be
a part of the biggest demolition project
in scandinavia. Ole has worked with
OilQuick since the start in the beggining
of the 90’s and can now establish a great
acceptance in Norway for our automatic
quick coupler systems. A big reason is of
course the fact that respected demolition companies like PeWe, Dokken and
AF Decom has been using OilQuick for a
long period in their operation. If it works
in this tough industry then it works everywhere, says Ole.

Åkerman with the OilQuick quick coupler system was to show that it’s not
about the kind of machine you have.

I have operated excavators myself in the past,
says Tomas, who has a history as a demolition
contractor before he started selling material
handling machines and hydraulic tools. I have
never liked jumping in and out of the drivers
cab to change greasy hydraulic hoses with
residual pressure and all that. That’s why I
thought it was great when OilQuick came up
with their quick coupler solutions for all types
of machines.
When I was going to sell this to my customers later I discovered that it could take hours
to convince someone that it worked. Seeing is
believing! The things have to be experienced
in real life and that’s why I decided to make a
demo machine so that people could try it out in
their own pace and convince themselves about
the function.
