Dear Performers, Directors and Parents
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome each and every one of you to the
14th annual Woodcreek High School Jazz Festival. This event highlights
the partnerships that exist between students, staff, parents, and the
entire Woodcreek community. Throughout this three day event you’ll be
treated to performances by some of the most talented jazz ensembles in
California.
Fourteen years ago, our first festival, had eight local bands with two
adjudicators. This year we have thirty jazz ensembles, five adjudicators,
and two clinicians. The Woodcreek Jazz Festival has grown to a multiple
day event including performances and competitions on Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as Saturday.
This year we once again are grateful for the support of our community
and local music educators. I want to give a special thanks to Dyne
Eifertsen, and the American River Jazz Ensemble as well as Steve Roach
and The Sac. State Jazz Ensemble I. Both groups are joining us this year
for a special concert on Thursday, February 26th. On Saturday, February
28th, Dyne Eifertsen, and the American River Latin Jazz Ensemble will
once again provide a lunch time concert.
I hope you have a great festival and we hope to see all of you again next
year. Mark your calendars, our next Jazz Festival will be held February
26th and 27th 2016.

Kline Music is based in Sacramento, California, and we are proud to be the
longest running family-owned-and-operated music store in the area. Our
shop was established in 1963 by Betty Kline. We provide the same committed service that we did more than 50 years ago to this day.
Our shop started as a teaching studio in the Kline family studio, and quickly
progressed into one of Sacramento’s most diverse, respected music stores.
No matter your musical interests, you can find the instruments and supplies
that you need.

The Roseville Community Concert Band hosts a Summer Day Music Camp for current 4th-8th
grade students each June at Cooley Middle School.
Camp instructors are credentialed and experienced local area music educators and area high
school and college music students act as counselors. Each week will finish with a free noon
concert performance for family and friends!

Special Thanks
Over the past fourteen years we have been fortunate to have had many wonderful
adjudicators and clinicians working our festival. However there has been one very
special person at every festival since 2001 and that is Nick Anguilo. Nick has been one
of California’s most highly respected music educators for over fifty years, as well as a
mentor to many of the directors with bands performing today. More importantly Nick
is a dear friend. Therefore I am proud that the Woodcreek High School Sweepstake
Awards is known as the “Alice and Nick Anguilo Music Sweepstakes”. Nick on behalf of
all of us at Woodcreek, thank you for helping us make this event possible.
