July 1, 2014—June 30, 2015
Nicasa provided its first full year of mental health services for
adolescents and adults with a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of
Northern Lake County. These services are now available at several of
Nicasa’s locations and continue to be in high demand in the community.
Nicasa was amazed by an outpouring of support in February when the
boiler at Bridge House went out and temperatures inside the residential
facility began to plummet. Nicasa’s first crowdfunding campaign was a
success, raising $15,000 for emergency repairs.
Through a grant project from the Taproot Foundation, Nicasa went live
with a new website in March 2015. The new site is more modern, user
friendly, and mobile responsive. It offers an improved donor
experience and clear information for clients and loved ones.
Nicasa was honored to receive the “Organization of the Year” Award
from the Zion-based Coalition for Healthy Communities at their 20th
Anniversary Celebration. Organizations are selected based on their
outstanding community support.
Nicasa’s 26th Annual Charity Golf Outing took place despite stormy
weather on June 15 at White Deer Run Golf Club in Vernon Hills. Eightytwo golfers participated in a day of golf that raised valuable funds in
support of our clients.

July 1, 2014—June 30, 2015
Nicasa offices became equipped with the Naloxone Auto-Injector
Overdose Prevention Kits. These kits provide oral instructions to the user
and have replaced the manual syringes and bottles. Nicasa was
instrumental in getting these kits donated and made available Countywide for use by police departments and other emergency personnel.
In September, as a part of National Recovery Month, Nicasa worked with
the City of Highland Park to sign an official proclamation that recognized
the importance of behavioral health services and celebrated recovery and
healthy lifestyles.
Nicasa celebrated the opening of the Round Lake Student Health and
Wellness Center in October with the Round Lake School District and Lake
County Health Department. Nicasa was instrumental in the planning and
development of the Center.
Nicasa’s first “Cold Turkey Trot” 5K Run/Walk was held on November 23
at Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville. Nearly 200 people
registered to participate in this event promoting healthy lifestyles and
recovery. Frozen turkeys were awarded to top finishers.
Yong Taekwondo donated 25 turkeys for our clients’ holiday meals and
held a board breaking event that raised $2,500 for Nicasa services.
Additional holiday meals were provided by Jewel-Osco and other
community donors.

contributions and support of our donors and partners.
