Description: New Life Newfoundland’s has five Bible Studies that are meeting in the
preparation of the first church start. Missionaries will be involved in: Scouting/Exploring and
Greeting and orienting arriving mission teams, facilitating the logistics of their work, meeting
and interacting with contacts.
The students will be trained in how to guide conversations in such a way to discover the spiritual
interest of people. The goal is to find “persons of peace” who will host home Bible studies and other ministry activities for new
church plants. Our hope is that these contacts will become “core” members of new church plants. Students will spend much of their
time developing relationships leading to receptivity to the Gospel witness. They will also give oversight to the work of multiple
mission teams.
NOTE: Students will need to provide/raise $1,000 for their expenses in this pioneer mission work.

CD25 Chinese Christian Gospel Church
Burnaby, BC (Greater Vancouver Area)
June 1 –July 31, 2009 Flexible
-6 Students requested 2 Males and 4 Females preferred but flexible.
Description:
-Chinese Christian Gospel church is an outreaching church planting ministry in three different locations in the Greater Vancouver
area. The target of the church is to reach new immigrants from China who have moved to Vancouver. This is the largest new
immigrant community in Canada. In reaching these new immigrants we have great opportunity to reach their friends and relatives in
China. In the past few years we have had over 300 baptisms in our church. Children’s ministry, youth ministry and ESL ministry are
the crucial ministries where summer missionaries can contribute greatly. Summer missionaries have proven to be very successful in
helping this church planting ministry in the past years. Since the ministry will be with English speaking children and youth and
teaching ESL it is not necessary to speak Chinese.
Note As a new Church plant, and because Vancouver is an expensive place to live the church cannot afford to provide all the
living expenses of the missionaries. Each missionary will need to bring $1000 for the two months living expenses.

CD35 Journey Community Church Nova Scotia
Enfield/Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, CANADA (Near Halifax, NS) Term of Service: June 26 to
Aug 2, 2009 (Flexible)
-4 Students requested: 2 Males and 2 Females
Description:
- Journey Community Church is a new church plant located in Enfield/Elmsdale, Nova Scotia,
Canada. It is in the process of launching, with a small core group. Missionaries will be
involved heavily with Powerplant, 2009. We are looking for students who can think outside
the box and are interested in reaching the lost youth of our community. We are in the process
of working with a secular business to create a youth centre for high school aged students. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for
our church and we need students who would be interested in working in this group. Missionaries would be hanging out with youth in
our community, sharing their relationship with God. We meet in a school and are reaching out to people who either have little or no
church experience or who have had bad church experiences and are turned off of God because of this. We are about relationships and
building trust, not one time experiences. Missionaries seeking to serve with us are expected to blend with our culture. This is
extremely important!
Missionaries will benefit from working with a church planter and his team. They will learn all about evangelism, being culturally
sensitive and church planting. We will commit to training a missionary to the best of our ability. God is working here.
NOTE As this is a brand new church plant, Missionaries will be expected to bring $100 per week for their own support

CD36 University of British Columbia, Campus Ministry
UBC Campus, Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA
June 1 to Aug. 15, 2009 Flexible 2 Students requested.
Description:
- UBC is a large university campus with students from around the world. Out of 45,000 students, only 1.5% are evangelical
Christians. The Baptist Student Ministries Network is comprised of a small team reaching out to the campus through student ministry,
chaplaincy, and (we hope) eventually a church plant. Students here are primarily postmodern “screenagers” and we need help
connecting with them through technology (website, facebook, texting, etc.), and through real discussions of authentic faith and the
genuine life that is found in Christ. Also, during the summer, our English Corner ministry switches from classes to outings, giving
international students an opportunity to see the city and build much-needed friendships. So dust off your prayer life, fire up your
keyboard, get ready to meet lots of people from other countries, and ask God to give you a passionate heart to see the students of UBC
come alive as they encounter Jesus and share Him with others.
Note re funds: We are only able to provide free housing for one female missionary during the summer. If 2 missionaries of
the same gender come (either male or female), they need to rent an apartment together, which we will help them to locate.
Students will need to bring approx. $1000 per month to buy their transit pass and pay rent (if necessary). In the case of only
one female missionary, only half that amount will be required.

CD45 Renaissance Sherbrooke Quebec Camp Livingstone Sherbrooke,
Quebec
June 8,2009 – Aug 15,2009 Flexible 6 Students (3 Male and 3 Female) are requested
Description: Renaissance Church in Sherbrooke is a new church plant associated with the
Canadian National Baptist Convention. We minister in Quebec, a province that is post-Christian
and has largely turned its back on Christ and Christianity. While less than 5% of Quebecers
attend church once a month, we have discovered that nearly every Quebecois family will send their children to summer camp,
regardless if they are Christian or secular. We quickly realized that this is where Christian values and Quebecois values intersect. It
was clear to us as a church plant that while many families would not attend church, we could reach the children for Christ at the
summer camp level. Brian Murphy and Camp Livinstone are associated with Renaissance Church plant in a desire to evangelize the
Quebecois. Thus we devised a strategy where Southern Baptist summer missionaries would serve at Camp Livingstone and
evangelize the Quebecois children at camp. Renaissance Church will work closely with the summer missionaries and Camp
Livingstone in offering follow up to those children that are reached with the Gospel of Christ.
