WHY SHOULD I GO?
THIS quintessentially Cape May seafood and
steakhouse and piano lounge, circa 1885, has
delighted generations of locals and visitors.
Newcomers discovering this gem for the first
time and those “coming home” to the Merion
are drawn by its well-executed menu, relaxed
ambiance, cozy candlelit dining rooms and
elegant turn-of-the-century bar – the oldest in Cape May and “the best place… to get
a martini,” according to Philadelphia magazine.
There is a protected outdoor patio for peoplewatchers. George Mesterhazy holds forth
nightly on his Steinway grand piano. On special Jazz Nights he is joined by his trio as well
as guest singers and instrumentalists.

Merion potato cup) as well as creative daily
additions highlighting local catches and Jersey produce, many of them offered as budgetstretching Express Dinners and Early Bird and
Night Owl specials.
CAPE MAY FARMERS' MARKET SALAD
A cornucopia of seasonal veggies and herbs from local farms (changes
weekly).
CHESAPEAKE BAY OYSTERS
Succulent local oysters, raw or breaded to order, deep fried with
jalapeño rémoulade sauce.
MERION CRAB CAKE DUET
A Maryland-style crab cake and a Merion deviled crab cake, with
roasted red pepper, rémoulade sauces and corn and tomato salad.
ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
THE Merion Inn serves dinner from 5pm with
live piano music nightly from 5:30 and frequent late-night jazz jams. The last reservation is at 9pm (10pm on Saturdays). In season,
a late-night Café Menu features light fare, and
this year you can pre-order a post-theater
bento box that will be waiting for you afterhours. Check out the Early Bird and Night Owl
specials before 5:30pm and after 8:30. There is
also free parking and a children’s menu.
