ProsCorner
I would like to thank everyone
for the support and friendship
extended to my wife and I this
first year here at Alpine GC. My
staff and I are always looking for
ways to exceed our customers’
expectations and welcome your
feedback and insights on what
and how we can provide for our
Airmen and their families. Last
month’s Get Golf Ready as well
as the Kids Drive Free programs
are examples of how the Air Force
Golf Program is commited to
growing the game and supporting
the Air Force community. Disc
Golf, Foot Golf as well as Croquet
are alternative programs here at
Alpine GC that were developed
to add additional recreation
opportunities to the traditional
golf course programs. Thank you
again and hope to see you soon
on the tee!

Congratulations
Summer Reading
Program Team
This month’s outstanding team consists
of Abby Eickhoff and Chrissy Gagnon,
a dynamic duo from the Library who
conceived and executed the 2016 “Read
for the Win” Summer Reading Program!
Both part-time technicians, Ms. Eickoff
and Ms. Gagnon overcame manning
shortages and opposing shifts to put on
weekly events for school age children
every week this summer. Not content
to stop with the kids, they went even
further, creating the Aviano adult reading
challenge, the teens’ “Book in a Jar”
program, and unveiling the summer’s
reading achievement board. Their
close work with base marketing meant
sponsors for “Read for the Win” program
finale, prizes for each age-group winner,
plus pizzas, games, and gift bags for
all the finale attendees. Thanks to Ms.
Eickoff and Ms. Gagnon’s awesome
performance, an astonishing 180
participants read an astounding 54,000
minutes in 6 short weeks! Kudos to this
outstanding team of the month!

Congratulations
Katie McGill
Ms. Katie McGill
is a stand out on
an all-star team
at the Aviano
Community
Activities Center!
Ms. McGill
spearheaded
an outstanding
July 4th
celebration for team Aviano, from starstudded entertainment, to great food and
fun for families, and culminating with a
spectacular fireworks display. She went
the extra mile in working with a variety
of private organizations to set up food
booths, and took the initiative in a joint
venture with the Auto Hobby Shop to
arrange the popular car show as part of
our on-base Independence Day festivities.
Her hard work, along with Outdoor
Recreation, also resulted in dozens of
delighted children having a wild time in
the kid bouncy zone! While Ms. McGill’s
hard work started with Fourth of July
planning, it didn’t end there. At the end
of the month, she worked tirelessly with
the Club Staff to bring world famous Chef
Robert Irvine to Aviano! Her behind-thescenes work included coordinating the
local national passes for the construction
of the stage, transporting Robert and his
team, and an effortless partnership with the
USO that delighted our Airmen and their
families! If that wasn’t enough, Ms. McGill
also facilitated the Youth Center’s highly
successful rendition of Sleeping Beauty,
performed in the Community Center at
the same time as the Robert Irvine show,
proving once again that she and the CAC
staff are master jugglers!
