dumela - Jack`s GYM
 DUMELA,
Already the year seems to be flying by as the sun rises a little later, schools have
mid-term breaks and Easter seems just around the corner… Are you in the gym
yet? Are you achieving your goals? We have some tips to keep you motivated to
achieve your goals; -
LET’S GET MOTIVATED – We can
help you.
Set a goal
Set a goal and work towards it… whether it be a 5km race or fitting into a pair of
jeans. Don’t just think about it but write it down and aim to achieve it! Here at
Jack’s GYM we have the experts to help you set out a goal specifically for you and
to advise you on how to achieve them.
Make it regular
Put your workout in your diary as an appointment and plan to keep that
appointment, “if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. Don’t cancel your ‘meeting’ at
Jacks GYM, it’s important.
Change it up
Do a variety of exercises, not always the same thing. Your body and muscles get
used to the same workouts so if you change it up you might even discover new
muscle groups. Try something new and break the ‘workout routine’. We have set
out a variety of classes to help you ‘change it up’. Also, get yourself a Personal
Trainer for a month to motivate you, change your routine, and advise you.
Support
Having a gym buddy goes a long way in keeping you motivated and at the gym. It
makes it harder to skip a session and you can be an encouragement to one another.
If you can’t find a gym buddy, engage in one of our group training programs to get
you motivated.
Keep a record
Log your progress, whether it’s by pictures each month or weight and
measurements as well as maybe even keeping track of your training sessions it all
goes a long way to keeping you going. We have assessment rooms in each gym
where Floor Custodians or Managers can help you keep track of your progress.
That feeling
How do you feel after exercising? The adrenaline, the energy, the general health
kick…. Motivation enough! Don’t always look for the results – sometimes the
results come in other forms, stamina, concentration, sudden strength and it will
show in your health as you get older. Our gyms are set up to provide the
atmosphere that will leave you feeling good about yourself.
Don’t give up
When you feel yourself slipping ask yourself one question ‘WHAT DID I START THIS
FOR’. Remember your goals everyday and remind yourself constantly why you are
exercising. In those times of decline all you have to do is make the decision to go
to gym today, once the decision is done, the rest is easy.
What’s happening in your
gym…
I TOWERS:
- We have a range of new classes this month, introducing the morning
classes at 8.00am and lunch time power hour classes at 12.45pm. This month we
are doing an education on Kettlebells; ‘Kettlebells promote not just stronger muscles but also stronger connective tissue
and increased flexibility which in turn has lead to a staggering decrease in the risk
of injury sustained during training. Kettlebell training also has a reputation for being
one of the most effective fat burning and body sculpting training methods around.
This is due to the fact that every muscle in the body is worked at once. It develops
core strength and stability like almost nothing else while at the same time pumping
up ones metabolism, effectively turning them into a fat burning machine. Food for
thought – 1 hour of Kettle bell is equivalent to 3 hours in the weights room’
- Obi is running morning Kettlebell classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at
8.00am to introduce our members to the concept and to make sure you do it
correctly. These classes are free to any member of JacksGYM. Don’t forget to sign
up for Obi’s Kettlebell workshop starting in April. For more information call him on
75951234.
- On Saturday the 21st of March, 10.00am to 11.30am we have a workshop
happening at I Towers. Austin will be doing a talk on health and fitness and then
there will be a 40 min fun Kettlebell and Bosu ball workshop. Put it in your diaries.
- The Juice Bar is opening soon, part of our role in getting you fit and healthy.
- There has been quite a bit of maintenance issues being sorted out in the gym,
apologies for any inconvenience whilst this is being done.
- Welcome to Kweku our new Floor Custodian at I Towers.
G WEST:
- We are really excited to be introducing a Saturday morning circuit training class
with Bicky as from 7th of March.
- Our Aerobathon last month was a great success and it was wonderful to see so
many members taking part. Look out for our next event on the notice board and on
Twitter (jacksgymgwest).
- We have FINALLY had our power upgraded by BPC, which is great news. The
fans in the gym have been serviced and broken ones replaced (the aerobics studio
fans are scheduled for maintenance). The aircons in the gym are working well and
we have had a new air-con installed. We are unfortunately still waiting for parts for
the arm extension machine as well as wanting to get our treadmills to be working
100%; these are top priority for us.
- We have a new floor custodian Thabo who I’m sure you would have seen around
the gym. Our floor custodians are there to help you in whatever way they can.
- Our USN spike drinks are out of stock due to USN South Africa not having stock.
We are busy investigating another energy drinks to stock at our gym and we really
apologise for the inconvenience it has been over the past few weeks.
-There are new paper towel rolls and disinfectant sprays in
the gym, please make use of them to leave the equipment
clean for the next person.
PHAKALANE:
- Phakalane has had a few maintenance issues the last
month, but we are getting on top of them. The fans have been installed in the
cardio room, all the air-cons have been serviced and are working. Our JoJo tank is
still ‘under construction’ but will hopefully be sorted out this week.
- We have two new classes, Endurance Spinning on Monday at 18h00 and
Kettlebell burnout on Tuesday at 17h00. Anyone from Phakalane who wants to
attend the Kettlebell classes at I Towers from 8:00am-9:00am with Obi on a
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, can do so for free as long as
you are a member at JacksGYM.
- On the 23rd of March is our Cardio Box fun class at18h00.
Book your space as this fills up quickly. BLOCK 5:
- We have been experiencing an overload with our appliances,
which caused short-circuiting. We have therefore switched off the bathroom
extractors as we noticed a regular trip with them on while we wait for an electrician
to come diagnose and sort out the problem. Please bear with us in the meantime.
- We have had a problem with cleaning suppliers with shortage of polish thus our
gym floor has been looking dull. We are happy to announce a restoration of this as
we strive to keep your workout environment appealing!
- What’s new: We have introduced a monthly celebratory training program to be
done each month end. This will feature different training methods each time. The
first of this was a two hours spinning duo with KB and Anne on 28th February,
termed “Spin into March” to bid off February. The idea is to test our progress whilst
having fun. In future, we shall have hang out sessions after these so that we get to
interact and know each other better. Look out for our next event for March
VILLAGE:
- Thanks for those taking part in our boot camp and spinning event last month.
Great fun was had by all. On the 21st March we step in to the 80’s and 90’s with
Shaheeda, Pique and Thuto. Watch out for the posters in the gym or follow us on
jacksgymvillage for more information on this.
- We are still waiting for parts for the Flexibility machine and Elliptical,
hopefully this week they will be sorted out. Village Gym has a few minor
maintenance issues. We are aware of them and sorting them out weekly.
