Speedtool and Killswitch are both products from Isamtec.
The Killswitch is a failsafe operated relay to shut off a CDI ignition of 2 stroke engines. It
contains a controller and a relay. The controller checks the radio signals of your radio system,
the voltage of your receiver battery and can also be used by a third channel to shut-off the
engine.
The Speedtool comes with the same functions as the Killswitch. But it contains also a GPS
system for reading the speed and a tach for reading the rpm. Both data will be stored until you
reset the system.
Quick guide:
If you have our killswitch in use it is easy to upgrade to the speedtool. All functions and
adjustment of the killswitch will not change.
For upgrade please remove the relay (the black box) and change it to the Speedtool.
The connections are the same: Please connect the red wires of the Speedtool to the red wires
of the controller. Connect also the black wires of the Speedtool to the black wire of the red
coil and to ground of the engine.
Please install the Speedtool into some foam (poolnoodle) to prevent against vibrations.
If your radio system is switched on and there is nothing on the display please change the red
wires.
If the Speedtool doesn’t read the RPM please change the black wires.
Make sure you have mounted the GPS antenna that way that it cannot come loose during
operation. This can damage or destroy your boat!
You can install the antenna inside or outside the hull. If you are running a carbon hull, please
install it outside of the hull.
When switching off the Killswitch by using the third channel the display of the Speedtool will
go out. The last readings of speed and rpm will be stored until you reset the system.
It may need some minutes after first switching on the radio because the antenna has to check
for the satellites. When the system is ready you will see an antenna symbol at the display and
the light at the antenna will flash slowly. If the light flashes fast, the antenna has no signal.
The reading of the rpm is time-lagged. The system needs some ignitions to generate a data.
All showed datas on the displays are mean values, the system eliminates shorttime peaks.
To reset the readings please hold the small magnet on the left side of the Speedtool (as shown
in the picture).
To change the sensivity of the tach please hold the magnet for 1 minute on the reset-position.
You will see a “M” at the display. After a minute it changes to “low sensivity”. Now the
system measures the max. rpm for a longer time before store them. To change back to high
sensivity please repeat this.
The Speedtool needs a little bit more energy as the Killswitch. Please do not connect more
than 2relays to the controller, 1 Speedtool and one additional relay is possible (without
Speedtool the controller can handle up to 4 relays).
Please read the manual of your radio carefully, especially if they have an integrated failsafe
system (and how to activate it).
We strictly recommend to check the function of the Killswitch before running your boat. If
the engine is running and you switch of your transmitter the engine must stop!
Please remember that the Killswitch is no 100 percent guaranty for safety!! It is an additional
option to make boating more safe.
