[Abbie McFarland]
Specialty | I specialize in fine-art film photography. I choose
to primarily work with film because I find it has a certain
timeless quality and refined look to it that is hard to capture
by shooting with digital.
What Sets You Apart | Most photographers tend to
shoot only with digital cameras as it is more economical
and easier to correct flawed images. By shooting almost
exclusively with film, I forced myself to push outside of
my digital comfort zone. This has really helped me to find
my voice as an artist. That said, I am multi-faceted and do
have a full array of digital-camera equipment. I am equally
comfortable shooting both, but film is my passion!
Best Advice I Received | Constantly shoot personal work
in order to continually stoke my creative fire and refine my
skills as an artist.
Your Inspiration | I draw the most inspiration from the
people I am around the most, my husband––he is my biggest
advocate, and one of the most goal-oriented and focused
people I know. My parents––throughout my life, they have
shown me that acting with integrity combined with having
great work ethic can have big impact on not just you, but the
people around you, too. My children––for their innocence
and zest for life (they are my world).
Personal Philosophy | Do what you love and love what
you do––I am a film photographer because I am passionate
about film as an art form. I find it so rewarding to see the look
on my clients’ faces when they first see the images of their
special moments showcased for them.
Setting the Standard | I want to make sure we have a great
time and that my clients feel comfortable and natural throughout
their experience with me. Relaxed, happy people just look better!
And of course the most important thing for me as a professional
is to make sure that my clients walk away with beautiful and
timeless photographs they cherish for years to come.

Charitable Work | My family and I sponsor a child
through Christian Relief Fund, and I have volunteered at
Let’s Start Talking.
You Should Know | I’ve had the opportunity to be
mentored by some of the best photographers in the country,
which has been a great asset for me in honing my craft. It
would be an honor to use my skills and vision to create a set
of lasting memories for you!

Addison Cole Group
Keller Williams Realty
[Kimberly Bedwell]
Specialty | Honesty, integrity and the
relentless pursuit of client satisfaction embody
my fundamental values that I employ for both
buyers and sellers of residential real estate in
northeast Tarrant County.
What Sets You Apart | As a parent, former
public-school teacher and certified interior design
professional, I understand the many data points
that my customers should consider before buying
or selling a home. My goal is to help clients
better prepare themselves––before making an
offer––by fully understanding the pros and cons
of a specific property and the neighborhood
relative to their particular needs and desires. I
also utilize my talents in assisting customers who
are selling their homes by offering design, color
coordination and staging advice. This aids in the
marketing and advertising of their property in
these challenging economic times.
Best Advice I Received | Change the way
you look at things and the things you look
at change.
Challenges | Due to the fast-paced, indemand market here in DFW, it is essential
for me to be on top of the game and really
know what my clients’ needs are. I ensure
that I always have a plan of action so I can
be proactive when the right home becomes
available or their house sells quickly.
Your Inspiration | My grandfather––he
taught me patience and was the epitome of
an honest man.
Personal Philosophy | It’s never about
me. It’s about doing what is best for my clients.
Setting the Standard | Customer
satisfaction is of the utmost importance. I fully
understand that buying and selling your home
can be one of the single most important––not
to mention stressful––things you will ever do. I
focus my time on educating myself about what
my clients’ needs and tastes are in terms of
affordability, quality of life, school ratings (both
official and unofficial) and style preferences. I
strive to find a property for my clients that not
only aligns to their sensibilities, but that they
will not regret purchasing in the long run.
Charitable Work | Habitat for Humanity
and KW Cares.
You Should Know | I currently live in
Southlake and have two kids who attend
Carroll ISD. After working on a successful
team for several years at Keller Williams, I
decided to go out on my own and form the
Addison Cole Group with a vision of building
my own team. My two children, Cole and
Addison, inspired the name for my business.

[Janice Jones, founder]
Specialty | Therapeutic massage––which plays a vital role
in achieving optimal health through balancing the muscular
system. We specialize in individualized sessions based on the
goals of each client. We work with athletes, chronic pain
sufferers, people rehabilitating from accidents or surgery
and those who are in need of stress relief.
Setting the Standard | Individualized care and the call
to serve others is the cornerstone of Advanced Therapeutic
Massage. Connecting with individuals, providing a serene
and inviting environment, discovering the root cause of
symptoms, determining a treatment plan, and providing
consistent follow-up with each client is the reason many of
our clients call us “family.”
What Sets You Apart | We have the distinct advantage of
functioning as a team to provide our clients with exemplary
care. Our therapists are well versed in varied techniques
designed to bring balance back to the body, reduce pain and
achieve a distinct increase in feelings of well-being. Having
the ability to refer to other team members provides our
clients with the very best that therapeutic massage can offer.
Mission | Our mission is one of education. When I
opened the practice 16 years ago, it gave me an opportunity
to help educate clients and healthcare providers as to the
phenomenal benefits of bodywork. I made it a personal
goal to assist in the ascension of the massage therapy field
by assembling a team of talented professionals who are
highly skilled and very passionate about their work.
The Barrows Firm
Challenges | Perhaps the greatest challenge we face in the
massage industry is educating the public as to the necessity
rather than the luxury of therapeutic bodywork.
Vision | I envision a time in our future when physicians,
chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, physical
therapists, nutritionists and counselors will be actively
consulting each other, creating the most effective and
efficient approach to wellness.

Your Inspiration | My mother and my grandmother
have been my inspiration all of my life. They taught me a
hard work ethic, compassion and resiliency.
You Should Know | I believe that the power of intention
provides the framework for us as facilitators of healing.
This intention, combined with extensive knowledge and
experience, often results in greater wholeness for the body.
Our clients often deem therapeutic bodywork as “the
missing link” in their return to wellness.
Best Advice | Educate yourself about the benefits of
therapeutic bodywork; it can change the quality of your life!

Specialty | General dentistry with a focus
on the entire family. Blue Stone Dental
performs all phases of dentistry for young to
older patients with a special focus in cosmetic
dentistry, orthodontics, TMJ pain and sleep
apnea alternatives.
What Sets You Apart | Our advanced
training in many areas of dentistry allows us
to perform all treatments in one office without
the need to refer to specialists for implants,
sleep apnea, braces, TMJ, oral surgery,
cosmetic dentistry, dentures or root canals.
I also practice mercury-free and mercurysafe dental health, and take all the necessary
precautions in the removal of old mercury
fillings. Patients should be aware that all silver

fillings contain 50% mercury and are always
releasing mercury vapors.
Best Advice I Received | There is more
to dental health than just teeth. Oral health
care influences and provides signs to the entire
body’s health. As a dental physician, I always
look beyond the problem by asking “why is
there disease?” By answering this question, I
can treat the causes such as poor diet, large
tonsils, snoring or sleep apnea, small airways or
poor jaw alignment.
Personal Philosophy | Your smile is only
the beginning of the treatment you will receive
in our office.
Mission | Our patients appreciate the

convenience of having the whole family treated
at one location and the relationships they form
with our entire health team. We want to help
you obtain and maintain the best possible oral
health while making you look great, too.
Setting the Standard | We take time to
sit and listen to our patients’ goals for their oral
health, any fears they may have and how to help
them. As a health care team, we pride ourselves
in extensive continuing education in order to
make our patients feel comfortable and at home.
You Should Know | I love what I do! I have
wanted to be a dentist since I was only 5 years
old. You could say that being a dentist is a dream
come true for me. I feel very privileged to be able
to provide orthodontics to my own kids (15-yearold twin boys) and to yours. I am delighted every
time I see my kids smile. I enjoy providing that
same pleasure to other parents as well.

What Makes You Successful | My clients! A passion
and desire for doing whatever it takes to help my clients
reach their real estate goals. Strong problem solving skills.
Being a great listener.
What Sets You Apart | My design team and I work
closely with Sellers to prepare their home for the market.
This process includes de-cluttering, de-personalizing,
staging. I have a collection of key accessories and furnishings
that my Clients are welcome to borrow while their home
is on the market. Homes that are properly prepared sell
quickly and for top dollar.
Business Philosophy | Quality over quantity. My clients
are my top priority. In order to provide them with the
best possible service, I limit the number of clients I work
with––no more than 10––at any given time. There are many
aspects of a real estate transaction which run the gamut,
from emotions to legalities. I pride myself in being available,
informed and engaged, so that nothing slips through the
cracks. I accomplish this by not overextending myself.
Best Advice I Received | I’ve received lots of wonderful
advice over the years. The simplest but most life-changing
advice is to always see the best in people and assume their
intentions are good. That’s powerful. Other great advice:
Look at each day as a new opportunity to be your very
best. Set high goals. Know that you can do anything and be
anything. Help those less fortunate. Work with people who
share your passion for doing their best.
Challenges | There are not enough hours in the day!
Also, staying informed on all the changes in the real estate
market along with the latest financing options. Educating
buyers and sellers about relevant market conditions. And,
of course, time management since working in real estate is
never 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Your Inspiration | My mom. She was a generous giver
of her time and talents, embraced diversity, supported the
underdog, always provided for those less fortunate, was a
voracious reader and is responsible for my salvation. I learned
compassion and humility from the way she lived her life.

Charitable Work | All local organizations that feed the
hungry. I’m passionate about giving second chances to those
who have been incarcerated and desire to atone for their
mistakes. MDA Foundation as muscular dystrophy runs in
my family. I’m a proud supporter of the Westlake Academy.

Specialty | Designs by K is the talented,
connective force between clients, vendors and
contractors. Whether it’s personalizing just
one room or building from the ground up,
we’ve got the knowledge and experience to
help you get it done. If you don’t know where
to start, that’s exactly where Designs by K
comes in. We send a decorator to your home
to help you customize a “plan of attack.”
Why Choose Us | If you are tired of
staring at the same cluttered accessories on
your shelves or your window treatments are
outdated? Or maybe you’ve been meaning to
find a fresh paint color to rejuvenate a room?
Sometimes there’s not enough time to tackle
those big interior design dilemmas! Designs
by K works with you—and you can be
involved as little or as much as you would like.
What Sets You Apart | Experience is what
sets us apart from other interior design firms.
Since we’ve been working in this area for
years, we have trusted vendors and reliable
contractors. As times and trends change, we’ve
learned and grown so that our work is current
and relevant. We are the ones to call when you
want to avoid that “cookie cutter” look. Each
space should reflect its owner! A thorough
representation of our work can be seen in
the portfolio section of our website. We have
decorated in a variety of styles from traditional
to modern, rustic and everything in between.
Characteristics that Lead to Professional
Success | Over the years, our success has
come from excellent customer service. Many
of our clients have worked with us on several
homes. In fact, DbK’s team often travels
to other cities and states to work on projects
including vacation homes, new out-of-state
residences and homes designed specifically for
“flipping.” Treating each client as a VIP has
allowed us to grow while developing excellent
client relationships. The goal at Designs by K
is for each client to become a loyal, long-term
customer and a part of the Designs by K
family. While we love our most loyal repeat
clients, the DbK team also loves to meet new
people, families and companies—and learning
how to create a perfect space for each person.
You Should Know | In 2008, we started
with one interior decorator. Now, we have
three interior decorator/designers and a
strong team of support staff that help things
run efficiently. Our new Southlake location
has provided us with a dream design studio.
With a full inventory (including accessories,
lighting, furniture, etc.) and with a large upto-date resource area and fabric room. We
are well equipped to take on any project that
comes our way.

The Edmondson Law Firm p.c.
[Debra Edmondson]
Specialty | My law practice focuses upon
the areas of real estate law, corporate law,
employment law and administrative law.
What Sets You Apart | My first rule is to
listen, not only to gain a full understanding of
my clients’ legal issues, goals and objectives, but
also to make sure my clients understand that I
am on their side. Clients will be comfortable and
confident with the attorney who fully listens to
them. The importance of this is brought home
by the repeat business and referrals that I receive.
It is important to me that The Edmondson Law
Firm has a reputation for providing superior
customer service to our clients because that is
always my goal.
Best Advice I Received | “You gain
strength, courage and confidence by every
experience in which you really stop to look
fear in the face. You must do the thing you
think you cannot do,” Eleanor Roosevelt.
Challenges | The challenge of time is a big
one. There are not enough hours in a day to
accomplish everything I need and want to do.
Your Inspiration | My best friend is
Councilmember Carolyn Morris. She is
an amazing woman who has faced many
tribulations due to a deadly kidney disease
that her daughter has––which also took her
first husband. When her daughter’s life hung
in the balance, Carolyn found her daughter
a new kidney, accompanied her to the
hospital for the transplant and never missed
a council meeting. She is now one of the top
national fundraisers for the Polycystic Kidney
Foundation. She is also a dedicated advocate
for the City of Southlake and its citizens.
Personal Philosophy | One of my
personal philosophies is from my mother. She
always told my sister and me, “Don’t take
sass unless you are getting paid for it.” I have
never forgotten that and follow it today. My
mission is to make sure I represent my clients
effectively and with integrity.
Charitable Work | I am the president of
the board of directors for the Bob Jones Nature
Center in Southlake. I have been involved with
the Nature Center since its inception.
You Should Know | Several years ago,
Harte-Hanks Community Newspapers
named me one of their, “Women Who Make
A Difference.” I have raised my children
not to ask, “Who can make a difference?”
but “How can I make a difference?” I strive
daily to make a difference for my clients, my
community and for those who cannot speak
for themselves.

Specialty | Board certified fellowship-trained spine
surgeon. My specialty includes all aspects of spinal
surgery (cervical, thoracic and lumbar), including
minimally-invasive procedures for herniated discs,
stenosis, spondylolisthesis, compression fractures,
trauma and degenerative disc disease. By performing
minimally-invasive procedures, my patients experience reduced tissue and muscle damage. This allows
them to recover quickly and return to their active,
pain-free lifestyles.
My Best Advice to Patients | Surgery isn’t your
only option. I am a firm believer in the human body’s
ability to heal itself. I make every attempt to avoid surgery
as a first option by using anti-inflammatory medications,
physical therapy, massage and other effective methods.
Only when my patient is unable to alleviate symptoms
with non-surgical treatments is surgery considered as
part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Why Choose Me | I have extensive knowledge of
and experience in performing the most technologicallyadvanced techniques and procedures currently

medical practice focused on making you better. Whether
addressing high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid issues,
fatigue, insomnia, weight or athletic performance issues
each patient gets the attention they need and deserve.
What Sets You Apart | In my experience, insurance
makes it difficult to build a well-rounded practice. That’s
why Life’s Medicine is a fee for service practice. I can limit
the number of patients in order to spend the time each
patient needs and be highly attentive to those needs. This
allows the time to take into account what patient’s feel, what
their lives are like and how they take care of themselves.
These factors affect their overall health. I want my patients
to leave their appointment excited, optimistic and hopeful
about their future health.

Life’s Passion | Life’s Medicine was born out of a
genuine passion for helping people. I am a board certified
family practice physician and have focused my medical
career on common endocrine and medical conditions.
The conditions themselves, as well as the medications used
to treat them, can significantly reduce the quality of life.
Practicing medicine for 13 years has been an extremely
rewarding, yet frustrating, experience. The frustration came
from having to deal with the third party payer (aka insurance)
and trying to do what is in the best interest of the patient.

What Makes A Successful Lawyer | Having foresight based on experience in family law,

Best Advice | Seek counseling and stay married if you can. If not, retain an attorney who is
concerned with your interests; and also, make
sure there is good chemistry with your family

gluten free, in addition to being vegan. Norvell
uses only the highest quality organic DHA
(the active sunless ingredient). Our method
of using healthy and natural ingredients
with a precise application technique yields
exceptional and natural looking tans.
Challenges | Convincing potential
customers that a hand-sprayed sunless tan will
not look orange or fake. Once our customers
try our salon, they are extremely pleased with
their beautiful golden color and look forward
to coming back!
Your Inspiration | My inspiration is my
husband, Rick Norvell. I attended a Norvell
University training two years ago when I met
Rick. His innovative way of thinking, extreme
dedication to customer service, and his desire
to create the highest quality sunless products
is truly inspiring to me as a business owner.
Personal Philosophy | Healthy skin tans
best! Our system offers products that treat
the skin before, during and after a spraytanning session, and our products are loaded
with ingredients that offer beneficial skincare
results. Our clients love our products, and that
Norvell “just off the beach” color, everytime!
You Should Know | In March, I attended
the premier of “Dancing With the Stars” with
the Norvell team, where we were honored to
provide sunless products and services to the
show’s performers, inlcuding Norvell’s newest
sunless color, Venetian. This new color is
available now at our Southlake store.

the creative process of photographing when I
don’t have to worry about other things.
What Sets You Apart | I’m always amazed
at the unique personalities of dogs and I try to
capture that—some dogs are mischievous, or
mellow, or completely bonkers! My sessions
are always fun, for the pets and their owners
and we are rewarded by getting great images
of the pets.
Challenges | As with most women, it is a
juggling act when it comes to balancing work
and family life. I do a lot of my Photoshop
work at home—if I didn’t, I don’t think my
family would remember what I looked like,
but with that comes the inevitable problems
of being interrupted and therefore losing my
momentum. Working from home, even if it’s
only for part of the day, requires discipline
and rules so that everyone knows where the
work/home boundaries lie.
Best Advice I Received | As a
photographer, the best advice was to
photograph with your heart. As a business
woman the best advice given to me was to
get organized! I’m big on lists. I take the time
every morning to make sure I am prepared
for the day ahead. I have shoot lists, to-do lists,
equipment lists. It allows me to concentrate on
Your Inspiration | My son, Josh, has always
been a major inspiration in my life. He is the
hardest working person I know and is always
unfailingly cheerful even when he’s going through
a stressful time. He has strength of character and
maturity far beyond his young age, but still has a
gentleness and genuine consideration for others
which are qualities I admire.
Specialty | Photographing pets, mainly
dogs—and the occasional donkey!

Mission | One act of love or kindness may
not change the course of history, but if it changes
the course of someone’s life, it’s worth it.
Setting the Standard | To produce high
quality photographic images that will stand
the test of time. Respect the time and financial
investment that customers have made and
make the whole experience enjoyable for them.
Charitable Work | The Boston Terrier
Rescue of North Texas is dear to my heart,
and I have been a foster mum to many of
their pups. I also support them by donating
my time to photographing the dogs for the
annual calendar, and in fact we are just now
gearing up for the 2014 issue.
You Should Know | I’m not from around
here. I’m a home grown Brit with a sense
of humor to match! I’ve lived in Keller for
around eight years now and embraced the
Texan way of life. Thanks for having me!

Sunstone
Specialty | Sunstone’s specialties are yoga and
hot pilates. Our signature Fire class is 98.6 degrees,
while all the other classes are 90 degrees. Every
class is beginner friendly and offers each student
an opportunity to release stress, detox, improve
flexibility and increase strength at whatever level
they’re at in their practice.
We offer 102 classes every week! Classes are
offered from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday).
The duration of classes is 30, 60 or 90 minutes
in order to cater to our students’ busy schedules.
Our hot pilates class, Metal, is one of the
newest additions to our class offerings and
has been a huge hit with our students. It’s a
great balance to our yoga classes and gives
our students an even wider variety of classes
from which to choose. If you’re looking for
a way to sculpt your body and increase core
strength, this is the class for you!
We have also added the Spark class, which is
a perfect place for beginners to start. It’s also a great
class for people returning to exercise after

some time off, recovering from injury or those
just wanting a restorative ‘rest’ day. The pace
of the class is slower but still full of detailed
instruction; both beginner and experienced
students benefit from this class.
What Sets You Apart | The quality of
our staff, no question! Electronic surveys
go out to our students after every class. We
receive positive feedback on value of the
membership, consistency and variety of
the classes, and the schedule, but these do
not compare to the student satisfaction
ratings we receive on the quality of our teachers.
That is truly what sets us apart from other
fitness facilities.
Setting the Standard | At Sunstone,
our philosophy is to be consistent, observant,
grateful, kind and courteous. The combination
of our classes, schedule and teachers helps
students succeed in achieving their health goals.
Mission | Our mission is to foster a
community of people who support one
another. We are all brought together with

a similar goal of living a healthier lifestyle.
Our community of teachers and students are
unparalleled; there really is no other place
like it. I’m extremely proud of our teachers
and students for creating such an amazing
community––we’re like one big family. Once
you step through the doors, you know you’ve
found the perfect place!
You Should Know | We have five intro
classes throughout the week. This is a
30-minute orientation to the studio. It takes
the fear out of yoga, allowing for questions
and providing the students with detailed
descriptions of the classes, expectations and
etiquette. It sets a strong foundation from
which to build your practice.
Come to one of our intro classes and earn a week of
FREE classes!
