BOCA BALLET THEATRE ANNOUNCES
INITIATION OF A DEBUTANTE PROGRAM
Boca Ballet Theatre is in the process of
developing a new and exciting event for the
spring of 2005. It will be a Debutante Program
for young ladies which will culminate with their
official presentation at the Debutante Ball. It will
be a night that fairy tales are made of. The Debutante Program is designed as a foundation for
young women to develop an appreciation for the
social and cultural arts and to hone arts advocacy and volunteer skills, while encouraging academic excellence. These young women will
serve as ambassadors for Boca Ballet Theatre
during their Debutante year. The Debutantes’
requirements, financial obligations and more specific details will be available starting April 1,
2004.
Our Debutante Ball committee is still in
need of more volunteers. There are many aspects and opportunities to get involved and use
your skills. Sign up for this event which promises
to become a tradition and the event of the year.
Please consider volunteering some of your time.
Our volunteers are an intricate part of our success at Boca Ballet Theatre. Anyone interested
in volunteering should fill out a guild membership
application or call the studio at 561-995-0709 for
more information.

OTHER GUILD HAPPENINGS...
February 12th Guild Luncheon Volunteers Have a Heart of Gold meeting was very well attended.
BBT is always thanking its volunteers for all the hard work they do during the year. Sets, props and
costume designs are much underway for our next production, La Bayadère. Watch for our volunteer
sign-up sheet shortly on the Guild Bulletin Board at the studio. We especially need volunteers for
concessions and boutique.
A Princely Affair 2004 committee is already working on this year’s luncheon. Chair Janice
Clough and Co-Chairs Susan Slater and Kim Wiles have planned their next meeting on March
11th at 11:30 at the studio. If you are interested in helping out in the planning of this year’s luncheon, please try to attend this meeting or call the studio at 561-995-0709.

Former BBT Student Joins
American Ballet Theatre
Sarah Smith, a Boca Raton native, has
studied dance most of her life. She began
her serious dance training with Boca Ballet
Theatre. Sarah premiered on the Boca
Ballet Theatre stage in 1992 as a cakecarrying Page in The Nutcracker. A few
years later, she was the youngest corps
de ballet member in BBT’s premier of
Giselle featuring Lloyd Riggins and
Heather Sanders. She later graduated
Angela Perez and
from Harid Conservatory, and prestigious
Sarah Smith, The
Nutcracker, 1992
Joffrey Ballet School in New York, and
enrolled in the University of Indiana Dance
Department and immediately became a principal artist in its performances. After dancing most roles
available in BBT’s The Nutracker,
Sarah culminated her career at BBT
by returning to perform the leading
role of Sugar Plum Fairy in its 2003
production of The Nutracker.
On
February 12, 2004, she
premiered with American Ballet Theatre at Kennedy Center, performing
the very same role in the Act 1
Waltz from La Bayadère, that she
previously danced with BBT in 1997.
