Beyond the Loss Itself
Make Wellness Your Reality!
The goal of this group is to offer a safe and supportive environment, inspiration,
encouragement and an opportunity to learn from others. This group will provide
a chance to be active and supportive with others who share a common goal.
Weight loss and a healthy lifestyle is going to be the focus. There are no special
foods or shakes, just common people helping one another stay accountable and
share their struggles and successes.

WOUND WISDOM
Sept 2016- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Awareness Month
 PAD develops when the arteries that supply oxygen rich blood to the internal organs, arms and legs
become completely or partially blocked as a result of plaque buildup
 Symptoms can include: weak or absent pulses in the legs or feet, sores or wound on the toes, feet or
legs that heal slowly or not at all and a pale or bluish skin color
 8-12 Million people are affected with PAD in the US
 One in every 20 Americans over the age of 50 has PAD
 The risk of limb loss due to PAD increases with age. People 65+ are 2-3 times more likely to undergo amputation
Please call the UnityPoint Health Methodist (309-672-4582) or Proctor (309-689-6074) wound
centers if you have a wound that you suspect is a result of Peripheral Arterial Disease.
