The Luzerne County Transportation
Authority currently provides the
Luzerne County urbanized area
with scheduled mass transportation
bus service. LCTA routes serve 31
municipalities within the urbanized
area, so that approximately 88% of
the population resides within onequarter of a mile of a bus route.
Route frequency of the various
routes averages out to about every
forty-five minutes, with some
routes operating every half-hour.

VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
All buses are equipped with video
surveillance cameras.
Persons with disabilities may obtain a
HALF FARE ID card at the LCTA office. A
Medicare card is sufficient proof to get the
ID card. If you do not have a Medicare card
you must pick up a form to be filled out by
a physician. All buses are equipped with
lifts or ramps. Half Fare is $ .75 and a half
fare transfer is $ .20.
BICYCLES
All buses are equipped with bike
racks. Riders must secure their own
bikes. Drivers will be happy to assist
with first-time riders.
S.T.E.P. PROGRAM
MISSION STATEMENT
(Special Transportation Efforts Program)
The LCTA exists to provide effective public
transportation services to the citizens of Luzerne
County and to perform these services at the highest standards of safety, reliability and efficiency.
Special Transportation Efforts Program is
for persons with special needs who are
unable to ride mass transit. In order to assist
special needs patrons in fulfilling their
transportation needs, the S.T.E.P. Program
is available in the general services area of
the LCTA. The program permits approved
persons with disabilities to ride on vans
operated by the LCTA.
Upon proper certification, persons
with disabilities may use the service by
presenting a proper ID card and fare
payment to the van operator.
Weekday services will be offered between
the hours of 5:30am and 7:00pm. Saturday
service is offered from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The fare for those who qualify for the
S.T.E.P. program is $3.00 per one way trip.
Fare tickets can be purchased from the
LCTA in any quantity.
