Note
To guarantee long-term reliability and accuracy of AVL instruments, we
recommend using AVL reagents, AVL electrodes and AVL accessories
exclusively. They have been designed specifically for use in AVL instruments and
take into consideration all requirements of the AVL instruments to ensure correct
and reproducible measurement results.
The preservatives, wetting and cleaning agents contained in AVL reagents were
optimally balanced to meet the requirements of AVL instruments and electrodes.
Electrode cleaning and conditioning in the instruments is achieved optimally by
using the AVL reagents designed and optimized specifically for this purpose.
The heparin types and concentrations used in AVL capillary tubes to prevent
blood clotting were selected specifically to meet the requirements of blood gas,
electrolyte and metabolite analysis to eliminate any deviation of measured values.
The volume of the AVL capillary tubes has been adjusted to meet the
requirements of the respective instruments and thus allows collection of the
required sample volume. The outer diameter of the AVL capillary tubes was
designed to fit the sample fill port of the AVL instruments and the capillary tips
have been polished to prevent injury or damage to the fill port.
The combined use of AVL reagents, AVL electrodes and AVL accessories was
tested intensively and thus ensures optimal operation of the AVL instruments.
QUALITY CERTIFICATE - AVL REAGENTS
Our Quality Assurance System complies with the requirements of the ÖNORM
EN ISO 9001.
The water used for the production of AVL Reagents undergoes multilevel
processing and is therefore of the highest quality. It has an initial conductivity of
< 0.3 µS/cm and is sterile and pyrogen-free.
AVL Reagents are produced in accordance with manufacturers‘ specifications.
The raw materials and testing devices used are traceable to N.I.S.T. StandardMaterials.
The consistent quality of the AVL reagents is ensured by strict adherence to
testing protocols during production and testing of samples at periodic intervals.
AVL Reagents are being tested with regard to hazardous properties in
accordance with the Austrian Chemical Substances Law and the pertinent EC –
Guidelines.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
THE GREEN DOT
-
For years AVL has played an active role in the protection of the environment by
using recyclable and biologically safe packing materials.
AVL also participates in the Dual System (THE GREEN DOT) to demonstrate a
positive attitude towards a substantial reduction and avoidance of packaging
waste to protect the environment.
USE OF AVL REAGENTS ENSURES CONSISTENT QUALITY
To ensure reliability and precision of AVL instruments for the long term, we
recommend the exclusive use of AVL Reagents. They have been designed
specifically for use in AVL instruments and meet all requirements of the AVL
instruments to ensure correct and reproducible measurement results.
The preservatives, wetting- and cleaning agents contained in AVL Reagents are
optimally balanced and meet the requirements of AVL instruments and
electrodes. Electrode conditioning and maintenance in the instrument is
optimized by use of AVL Reagents.
The interaction of AVL Reagents and AVL Electrodes has been tested
intensively and thus ensures optimal functioning of AVL instruments.

remembranable electrodes in one analyzer is possible. This
makes the step-by-step upgrade without financial loss possible.

Reliable
NOTE:
Expected lifetime of about 1.5 years for all zero-maintenance
electrodes.
AVL zero-maintenance electrodes require no maintenance operation
and best performance of the AVL zero-maintenance electrodes will
be achieved following the advices below.
Once in place, the electrodes should not be removed until it is to be
replaced, even not for cleaning of the measuring chamber.
Avoid contact with hard surfaces and take care not to strike the rear
of the measuring chamber
Repeated handling increases the risk of damaging the electrode
membrane.

possible, without financial loss.

Expected lifetime of remembranable electrodes is 2
to 3 years.
When treated accordingly, one of the biggest advantages of the AVL
remembranable electrodes is their extended lifetime. Regulare and
careful maintenance of the electrodes assures the quality of
measurement results and extends the lifetime considerably. Please
follow the instructions given in the section "Maintenance" of the
Operator’s Manuals of AVL blood gas analyzers.

Note:
Lithium- or sodium heparin or a balanced heparin mixture is the only
permissible anticoagulants for blood gas and electrolyte analysis. Other
anticoagulants such as EDTA, citrate, oxalate and fluoride have a
significant impact on some of the measurement parameters and should
not be used.
