Lake Elsinore, Calif. – Aug. 30, 2012 - The top professional motocross riders in the
world will race into Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park on Saturday, Sept. 8, for the Red Bull
Lake Elsinore National, the finale of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.
Located in the epicenter of the motocross industry and only about an hour outside of
Los Angeles and San Diego, the all-new Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park joins the series
for the first time as host of round 12 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship,
sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. The state-of-the-art venue was built from the ground up
to create an ideal track layout that will provide exciting racing for fans and riders alike.
With paved roads and walkways, lush landscaping and elevated viewing areas,
spectators will easily be able to catch all of the action as 2012 450 class champion Ryan
Dungey looks to cap off his year with another dominating victory. In the 250 class, Blake
Baggett, Justin Barcia or Eli Tomac will be crowned an outdoor national champion for
the first time. Jessica Patterson, Tarah Gieger and Ashley Fiolek will also complete their
season-long battle for the championship in the Women’s class.
Lake Elsinore has a long, rich motocross history that outdates the Lucas Oil Pro
Motocross Championship, which began in 1972. The 1971 Lake Elsinore Grand Prix
was featured prominently in the epic motorcycle racing documentary film “On Any
Sunday.” The original Lake Elsinore track was a local hotspot for many years, but it was
ultimately forced to shut its doors two years ago. After major facility improvements, the
new Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park opened its doors to the public in December 2011
and was selected by series promoter MX Sports Pro Racing to host the final round of the
2012 season shortly thereafter.
The inaugural Red Bull Lake Elsinore National kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning
at 8:30 a.m. PST with practice and qualifying. Opening ceremonies commence at 12:30
p.m. PST, with the first gate drop scheduled for 1 p.m. PST. Amateur riders will also have a chance to ride the track with practice on Friday, Sept.
7, and racing on Sunday, Sept. 9. Tickets and camping spots are on sale now at http://
tbamx.eventbrite.com/. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
