Nucor-Yamato Steel ANC Partnership
Began Fall 2010
Nucor-Yamato Steel provides 10 -15 paid
internships.
• Students enroll in the ANC Associate of
Applied Science Steel Industry Technology
Degree
• Students work up to 24 hours per week
(when school is in session) at Nucor-Yamato
Steel with an assigned work responsibility.
• Students rotate departments every eight
months.
• Applicants must meet college entrance
requirements and NYS hiring criteria.
Intern Selection Criteria
Must be 18 or older
Must meet college placement requirements for these courses:
• Intermediate Algebra
• English Composition I
• No Reading Remediation
Must have a high school GPA of 2.7 or above (or must
possess a GED or evidence of Home School completion).
Previous college credit GPA of 2.7 for a minimum of 12 credit
hours will be accepted in lieu of the high school GPA.
Must pass company pre-Employment test, physical screening,
and drug test.
Must complete company interview for final acceptance.
ANC & Company Internships
Advantages:

• Apply classroom theory to real work situations.
• Become more knowledgeable about general work functions in
particular fields.
• Identify and/or test interests and talents.
• Investigate organizational cultures.
• Learn career-related skills.
• See if a selected career path is one you truly wish to travel.
• Find out what it's like to work in a business environment.
• Make contacts to gain future employment.
• Bridge between college and work.
• Gain an increased awareness of skills, attributes, personal
qualities and values.
NYS – ANC Partnership
The Internship program is
structured for two year
completion.
Upon successful
completion, the student
earns an Associate degree
and has a high probability
of full time employment
with NYS (a position with
NYS is not guaranteed).
