Parents Week 2015

A week of events for families in Colin!
Thank you for picking up this programme, you are about to
enjoy a great week of local events with your family!
Parents Week is organised by a number of organisations in the
Colin area who want families to spend quality time together
and have fun. So gather up the family for some great events,
from pumpkin carving to art workshops, family fun days to
Halloween events, there is plenty to see and do!
We are always on the lookout for volunteers at our events,
contact Gemma at CNP if you can spare an hour or two.

 Colin Halloween Parade & Family Fright Night!
Parade leaves Colin Community Hub at 6:45pm and
makes its way to Cloona House, via Laurel Glen
Wood, for 7:00pm.
Fun Day for Parents & Children aged 0-4yrs
10:00am - 12.00noon, Brook Activity Centre, Twinbrook.
A Fun Day especially for parents and
young children. Older siblings welcome
too! Join us for lantern making workshops,
a magic show, Halloween arts and crafts,
tots cooking activity, messy play area, soft
play area for babies, and balloon
modelling! Fancy dress welcome! There
will also be complementary therapies and information stalls for

Autumn Activity Fair
3:00pm - 5:00pm, Dairy Farm Shopping
Centre, Twinbrook.
Gather the family for lots of Halloween
activities including face painting, petting
farm, clay crafts, junk art workshops,
bun decorating, story telling and Rhythm
and Rhyme. There is a small charge for
pumpkin carving or you can bring your

Halloween Spooky Tales - Outdoor Storytelling
7:00pm - 9:00pm, Colin Allotments,
Colinglen Road, Belfast.
Gather round the campfire & prepare for an
evening of spooky Halloween stories!

A Fun Day especially for parents and young children. Older

babies, face painting, a magic show, lantern making and

Techno Stitch

Come along to this intergenerational knit and natter group! A
chance for young and old people to learn how to knit or crochet

Fun and interactive workshops for parents and

Tooth Fairy Event
11:30am - 1:00pm, Colin Glen Library.
The tooth fairy will make an
appearance to help you learn all
about your teeth. There will
be story telling, face painting,
healthy food samples and free
toothbrushes & toothpastes. Kids
will also get the opportunity to ‘Dump
the Dummy’ in the magic wishing well.

Make a Bird Box Workshop

Experience a fascinating afternoon
learning about wild bird ringing and
bird watching. You will also build a
bird box to put up in your garden to
help birds nest and survive winter.

Monster Treats & Magical Garden

Bring the kids and let their imaginations run wild with

Leap of Faith Awards (invite only)
Balmoral Hotel, Belfast.
The annual Leap of Faith Awards are a way to celebrate
individuals or organisations in the Colin area who have made a
positive impact in the world of parenting. The recipients of
awards will be announced at this awards ceremony which will be
held in the Balmoral Hotel.

Colin Halloween Parade &
Family Fright Night!
The annual Colin Halloween event has a new
look and a new venue this year.
The parade will leave the Colin Community
Hub at the Laurelglen Shops on the
Stewartstown Road and finish at Cloona
House gardens for a Family Fright Night!
Follow the Halloween parade through the
grounds of Laurel Glen Wood to arrive at
Cloona House grounds for the Family Fright
Night. Here you will experience a spooky
magical Halloween trail featuring pirate ships,
scary storytelling and a haunted horror crypt!
Parade assembles from 6:15pm at the Colin Community Hub.
Parade leaves Colin Community Hub at 6:45pm and makes its
way to Cloona House, Poleglass, via Laurel
Glen Wood.
Gates to Halloween trail at Cloona House
open at 7:00pm. Participants in the parade
get priority entry.
Cost: £2 per Adult, £1 per child, family
ticket £5, kids under 5 go free.
