“Airdrie Community Choir”
22nd Annual Concert
Lutheran Church of the Master
Sat. April 21st at 7:30 pm
Sun. April 22nd at 2:30 pm
Sit back, relax, and let the beautiful sounds wash
over you. The Airdrie Community Choir will once
again be bringing their brand of choral music to
Airdrie on April 21 & 22 when they present their 22nd
Annual Concert, A Season of Song. Concert-goers
will be treated to a beautiful blend of voices
accompanied by many different instrumentalists.
These talented musicians will play flute, oboe, cello,
guitar and piano as well.
“This year we have something for everyone including
a number of works the audience will know and enjoy,
and many works we hope will bring back memories,”
said musical director, Jean-Louis Bleau.
This will be Bleau’s second year as director of the
Airdrie Community Choir. His passion for music is
evident through his unique and expressive conducting
style and his enthusiastic approach to music. He is
known for making his singers engage difficult music
which, while challenging, is very rewarding.

Ecclectic, is the best way to describe this program!
Remember the song “Blackbird” by the Beatles?
This was remade by Sarah McLachlan a few years
ago and now we have a version by the Airdrie
Community Choir. From rock music we move to
broadway with music from Jonathon Larson’s
famous musical “Rent.” You will be treated to
outstanding harmonies with a fantastic group of
soloists.
The choir will have you snapping your fingers along
with Gershwins’s “Fascinating Rhythm.” One of the
highlights of the concert will be the introduction of a
cello in the song “Grace,” originally performed by
Bobby McFerrin and Yo-Yo-Ma..
The classics are introduced with Schubert’s “Sanctus
from the Mass in F” and “Dirait-On” by Morten
Lauridsen, one of America’s most performed
contemporary composers. More great music awaits
you at the 22nd annual concert.
The concerts take place on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30
pm and Sunday, April 22 at 2:30pm at the Lutheran
Church of the Master, 216 Main Street, Airdrie.
Tickets are $15 for Adults and $10 for Seniors/
Students and Children. Tickets are available from
Choir members or at Music Centre Canada, Air-Alta
Insurance, Page & Turners Bookstore, and in
Crossfield at the Rockyview IDA.

Clean windshield wipers with a good scrubbing of baking
soda and water.
A radio antenna will slide up and down easier if a coat of
wax is applied occasionally. Wax paper works great for
this job. Rub the wax paper up and down the antenna,
the wax from the paper will coat the antenna.
Line your car trunk with a plastic rug protector to protect
the carpeting. It will make clean up easier if dirty or
greasy objects are placed in the trunk.
Remove road salt from carpet with equal amounts of
vinegar and water.
Remove tar from rubber car mats by dabbing a generous
dose of linseed oil on tar. Let it soak for about fifteen
minutes and blot with a dampened cloth.
Use newspaper to wipe windows dry after cleaning to
avoid streaks.
On a piece of tape write the mileage down when the next
oil change is due. Attach this to your upper windshield or
another convenient place to remind you when it's time to
change the oil.
Clean headlights, chrome and enamel with baking soda.
Steel wool pads with soap cleans white sidewalls the best.
Clean splattered bugs off with baking soda and a nylon
net.
When white walls are clean use a little vinyl top wax to
keep them clean longer.

Lois: I have no real update. I haven't been to Simply For Life for 3
weeks so, as far as weight loss goes, I have no idea. I know I enjoyed
a beautiful Easter weekend and if I gained a pound or two, but I have
no regrets. We get one shot at this life and I certainly didn't gain all
this weight over one weekend so, I don't expect to loose it over one
weekend. Stress (LIFE) continues to play a big roll in this challenge
so I will continue on my path here and keep pluggin' away. I HATE
not getting to that gym to work off these frustrations but, when you
own your own business, I know sometimes there is no choice. I have
fit in a few walks here and there but it's not the same. Until next
week, hopefully, I'll have better reviews.

Geoff: Well, here it is, only the remainder of this week, and next
week to go and the Airdrie challenge will be history for this year. I
am not making it easy on myself, as I just came back from a bit of a
holiday state side and, believe me, this was the biggest test yet. Not
only was I away from my usual comfort zone, I was constantly surrounded by these wild buffets. Fortunately the Simply For Life program came along for the ride, and other then the odd slip up, I was
able to stay fairly close to the plan. Although the work out areas were
nothing like the facilities Big Bear Gym has to offer, I did manage to
get the blood flowing by spending time in the pool and walking
whenever I could. I certainly missed my Extreme Pita favorites, but
with a little bit of effort was able to track down a fairly decent replacement, although not nearly as delicious. All in all I think I did
fairly well, as I gained less then a pound. Hopefully I will lose that
plus maybe a couple more, just to wrap this up on a high note.
